Chapter 981
โThe waters in Seamar City run too deep. I donโt want her to know too much,โ Juan replied, kicking the sack toward Garland. โLoad him up. Iโll meet you upstairs.โ
โHey, youโre seriously dumping this on me?โ Garland growled, glancing at the motionless Edgar inside the sack. His face was pale from blood loss. Of all the people he couldโve kidnapped, it had to be two of his most cherished women. Edgar brought this on himself.
Drake and Kale finally arrived at the factory, only to find the place deserted. Drake scanned the place and asked, โYouโre sure this is the place?โ
โYes, boss,โ Kale replied firmly. โThe team tracked the signal from the phone call. It came from here.โ
Drake glanced at his watch. Two hours had already passed since theyโd set out. Maybe it was all over. His jaw tightened as frustration flashed in his eyes. โDamn Edgar! Canโt even hold out long enough to make it worthwhile.โ
The next morning, at the Eaton Mansion.
โDebra left? How could she just leave?โ Lizaโs voice was laced with urgency as she fired off her questions. โWhen did she go? Is she already on the plane?โ
The maid nodded hesitantly. โShe left a little while ago.โ
โShe canโt just leave! I told her last night that I owed her a favor. If sheโs gone, how am I supposed to repay it?โ Liza stamped her foot. โNo way. Go bring her back.โ
The maid pointed at herself incredulously. โMe?โ
Liza huffed and brushed past her, rushing downstairs, where she spotted someone moving suspiciously at the door. Her brow furrowed. โGarland? What are you doing?โ
Garland froze mid-step, his plan to sneak out falling apart. Liza stepped closer, her suspicion growing. She glanced at the suitcase he was holding. โAre you leaving for a trip?โ
โYeah, something came up. Gotta head out for a bit,โ he stammered.
Chapter 981
โIf itโs work,โ Liza narrowed her eyes, โwhy are you wearing sunglasses and a hat?โ With that, she snatched his gear and held it behind her back.
โYouโre sneaking out, arenโt you?โ
โOf course not. Dad knows Iโm leaving.โ
โWhere are you going?โ
โSeamar City.โ
As soon as the words left his mouth, he regretted it, but it was too late to take them back.
โSeamar City? Can I come with you?โ
โWhat? No. Why would you go?โ
โWhy not? I could use a vacation.โ Liza grabbed his arm and pleaded, โTake me with you. Pretty please?โ
โAlright, Iโll take you with me,โ Garland said. โBut if you get shipped back like last time, I can help you. Iโm no match for Marion.โ
โDeal. Iโll behave,โ Liza beamed, eagerly following Garland and even helping him with his luggage.
Garland watched Liza happily skipping ahead, a smile playing on his lips. He knew that if heโd snuck out alone, Bert would break his legs.
