Chapter 106
Jeremy, his wife, and Grace's uncles were suddenly flustered. Seeing police approaching the room where "business" had been conducted, Jeremy shouted, "Why are you breaking into my house? Do you have a warrant?"
He and his wife tried to intervene, but were stopped. Meanwhile, someone noticed the room's door was locked.
Another car arrived. A tall man exited and entered the yard. A police officer quickly briefed him on the situation.
"One of the doors is locked. Someone may be inside."
The officer led the man to the locked door. Jeremy, his wife, and Grace's uncles desperately searched for an excuse to avoid opening it.
Jason stared at the door and coldly commanded, "Break it down."
Someone immediately used an axe to chop the door open.
"You can't enter! You're trespassing! I'll sue you!" Jeremy yelled, but to no avail. The moment the door opened, Jason rushed inside.
Just as the others were about to follow, a roar erupted from within: "No one can come in!"
The would-be intruders halted instantly.
Jason's eyes were bloodshot as he witnessed the scene before him. Grace's clothes were torn; she cowered in a corner, being beaten and kicked by a still-smiling man.
Her small body was curled, clutching a broken piece of mirror, too weak to fight back. She could only fight to stay conscious amidst the relentless pain.
Bright red blood dripped from her palm onto the light-colored sheets, like blooming poppies.
The man continued to mutter, "My dad said if a woman isn't obedient, you have to beat her! If you beat her, she'll be obedient. So I want to beat you, beat you, beat you"
Jason instantly lunged forward, pulling the man away from Grace, throwing him to the ground, and stepping on him. His Grace had been beaten by this fool. Murderous intent flashed in his dark eyes.
Miller, the fool, felt a sharp pain in his chest. He couldn't move. Even in his stupidity, he sensed danger; the man felt terrifying, a death god.
Jason's eyes burned with a growing intensity of rage.
Suddenly, a sound broke through: a gasp. Grace!
He kicked Miller out of the room and looked at Grace, curled in the corner. Her body was limp, her cheeks flushed, blood around her mouth. Her usually warm almond-shaped eyes were unfocused, vacant. She was like a frail animal, desperately trying to protect herself.
