Chapter 119

"Her tears always make me feel helpless. I'd do anything to make her stop crying," Jason thought.

Grace suddenly leaped into his embrace, sobbing loudly. She couldn't explain her impulsive action. Yet, pressed against his chest, she felt safe, able to release the hurt she'd been suppressing.

Jason lowered his head, studying the woman weeping in his arms. He held her gently, letting her cry.

Grace didn't know how long she cried, but eventually, the tears ran dry.

Jason gently wiped her face with a tissue. "Sister, what happened?"

"It's Grandma," she sniffled.

"Did she beg for leniency?" he asked, his gaze darkening.

"No. She just asked if I was okay and told me to ignore my relatives—that they should stay locked up as long as they deserve," Grace replied, her voice thick with emotion.

Jason was surprised. "Your grandmother is a good woman."

"She's very good to me," Grace murmured. "I never expected her to be so good, to stand against the whole family for justice."

"What about you? Do you want to let your relatives go?" Jason asked.

Grace looked up, staring intently at him.

He continued, "If you want to let them go, I'll inform the police. If you want to punish them, I can get a lawyer to ensure they stay in prison for life."

He spoke casually, as if it were simple.

Grace was stunned. "I studied law. I know that changing the nature of the crime substantially alters the charges. But no ordinary lawyer could win this case. To keep my relatives imprisoned for life would require an exceptional lawyer."

"Who are you?" she asked, her heart pounding, breath catching in her throat. Her lashes trembled. Jason noticed her hands were clenched tight and frowned. He gently lifted her bandaged right hand, prying open her fist.

"Sister, don't be so nervous. Clenching your hand hinders healing," he said, noticing blood seeping through the bandage. Her wound had reopened.

He pressed the nurse call button.

The nurse arrived quickly. Hearing the situation, she removed the bandage from Grace's right hand, revealing the bleeding wound from the previous night's mirror shard incident. She applied medicine to stop the bleeding.
