Chapter 147

Graceโ€™s body trembled as she vomited, finally collapsing, spent. Slowly raising her head, she peered from the washroom. Jason's tall silhouette loomed outside, his handsome face shadowed with gloom. His dark eyes were cold. "Are you that disgusted by me?"

Her face pale, she curled into herself, as if trying to create a thousand miles of distance. Jason pursed his lips. "When have I ever desired a woman like this? I'm Jason. What woman in Emerald City can I not have? And she's just an ordinary woman. Even if she's slightly interesting I won't lower myself to chasing someone who's so disgusted by me."

"All right, Grace. Since you're so disgusted, I'll let you leave," he said coldly, his usually amorous eyes frosted. "But if you regret this, I won't want you again. I, Jason, never give second chances."

He turned to leave. Grace braced herself against the sink, clinging to it, exhausted.

"Does this mean I can leave the hospital?"

She straightened her torn clothes, combed her hair, and looked at her pale reflection, a wry smile playing on her lips.

Leaving the hospital, she was immediately surrounded by a crowd.

"It's her! The Grace who killed someone!"

"Oh my god! She's really here! She killed someone and only got three years! Three years for a human life! She got off easy!"

"Lily mourned her sister for years! All because of her! She caused Lily to lose her sister!"

They hurled slurs and rotten vegetables and eggs. Despite dodging, Grace was struck repeatedly. Reporters snapped photos, documenting the scene.

In a nearby Bentley, Terrence saw Grace's predicament. He turned to Jason, who sat silently in the back, his expression cold. "Mr. Reed, should I help Miss Cummins?"

"No need," Jason replied coldly. "If she's unwilling to stay, she should endure this."

"These are probably Miss Lily's fans," Terrence explained. "They saw the online news about Miss Cummins' hospitalization." Heโ€™d investigated their motives. "This is insignificant. I didn't expect Miss Cummins to leave."

"Many women would love to be by Mr. Reed's side, and yet she refused him!"

Terrence remained silent. Jason watched, cold. Then, seeming weary, he closed his eyes. "Let's go!"

"Yes," Terrence replied. The car pulled away. Terrence didn't notice his boss's hands clenching repeatedly on his knees until they formed fists.

"That's extreme restraint."
