Chapter 166
Grace wasn't sure she could meet Jason at the Reed Group's office building, but she didn't know where else to find him. She knew very little about him; she didn't even know where he lived.
However, upon arriving at the Reed Group that afternoon, she found she couldn't even enter. Security guards stopped her immediately. When she said she wanted to see Jason, they mocked her.
โIf Mr. Reed met everyone who randomly showed up, he wouldn't sleep! We get people like you every day.โ
โThose who want to see Mr. Reed dress appropriately. With that outfit, who would believe you know him?โ
Grace looked down at her street vendor clothes. She knew they looked cheap and rough. To the guards, she likely seemed like an opportunist.
All she could do was wait. Standing by the Reed Group's gate, she hugged her padded jacket against the cold winter wind, which bit through her collar. She rubbed her hands together, occasionally blowing on her fingers, her eyes fixed on the gate, hoping to see Jason. She knew there were other entrances, but this seemed her best chance.
Suddenly, Grace's eyes lit up. She saw Terrence exiting a car and heading toward the building.
โTerrence!โ she called anxiously. He was the only person she knew who knew Jason.
Terrence turned, surprised. His expression was stern.
โMiss Cummins, why are you here?โ he asked politely.
โIโฆ I want to see Mr. Reed,โ Grace stammered, embarrassed. โBut I canโt get in. Terrence, could you help me?โ
Terrence hesitated before saying, โOkay. Miss Cummins, follow me.โ
The security guards were stunned.
โSheโฆ she went in with Terrence?โ
โHe seems quite respectful towards her!โ
โDoes she really know Mr. Reed?โ
They exchanged shocked glances, breaking into a cold sweat.
Grace followed Terrence into the elevator and to the president's office floor. The floor was quiet. At the president's office door, Terrence said, โWait a minute, Miss Cummins. Iโll announce you first.โ
โAlright,โ Grace replied, awkwardly lowering her eyes as she waited.
Terrence returned shortly and allowed Grace to enter.
