Chapter 207

Claire Watts told Grace about a part-time job as a film extra. The job only required registration and contact information; no paperwork was needed. Pay was $80 a day, including lunch; dinner was provided for filming extensions, but without extra pay.

Since Grace had free days, she could earn some extra cash. It was daily pay, so if she worked every rest day for a month, she could earn a few hundred dollars. That might not seem like much, but to Grace, it was significant.

After work, Grace finished knitting a pair of gloves and called Jason. โ€œIโ€™ve finished the gloves. Do you want me to send them, or will you pick them up?โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll pick them up,โ€ Jason replied.

โ€œFine,โ€ Grace said. She returned home, ate dinner, and then examined the photocopied case files Lina Sweeney had given her regarding her car accident. The files contained witness statements and photographs of physical evidence.

Shock and bitterness washed over Grace as she reviewed the evidence. The wine glass she allegedly drank from that day, along with her DNA found on the rim, was included. It was absurd; she'd never touched the glass. She felt powerless to refute this evidence.

She didn't know who wanted to hurt her, but what was Jennifer Atkinson's involvement? Even if they targeted her, Jennifer was the one who died. Perhaps Jennifer was a scapegoat?

Three years had passed, and while imprisoned, she couldn't identify her attacker. Finding Jennifer Atkinson's attacker was also beyond her current capabilities.

Suddenly, someone tagged all members of Grace's Messenger group. It was the background actors' group she'd joined that day. The organizer was announcing the next job: time, location, crew, number of people needed, and requirements.

The job was scheduled for Grace's next rest day. She immediately messaged the organizer to register.

โ€œOkay, be at the Cultural City main gate at 8:00 AM,โ€ the organizer replied.

โ€œAlright,โ€ Grace responded.

Extra work didn't pay much, but it was one of the few things she could currently manage.

Putting down her phone, Grace was about to search online for news about the show when someone knocked. It could only beโ€ฆ

Grace pursed her lips, rose, and opened the door. As expected, it was Jason.

He wore a sharp black overcoat, his hair neatly styled, looking elegant and classy. The only exception was the scarf around his neckโ€”the one she had knitted for him.

Grace looked at the scarf with mixed emotions. Compared to his luxurious attire, her scarf seemed rough and cheap. She'd rushed to finish it, fearing he'd be cold, pleased with her work. Now, it felt like a joke.

Yet, he was wearing it, leaving Grace with indescribable feelings.
