Chapter 234

Uncle Kwan looked thoughtfully at Grace, a hint of surprise in his gaze.

Grace greeted him. "Hello, Uncle Kwan."

"Miss Cummins, if you need anything, just let me know," Uncle Kwan smiled.

"You can call me Grace," she said, uncomfortable with the formality.

"You are the Young Master's guest; I should call you Miss Cummins," Uncle Kwan replied, politely but without apology.

Grace didn't insist; she wouldn't be staying long.

"Uncle Kwan, please show her the rooms and let her choose one," Jason instructed.

"Any room will do," Grace said immediately.

"About that…" Uncle Kwan looked at Jason.

"Take the annex on the third floor, then," Jason said lightly.

"Yes," Uncle Kwan replied.

Grace was confused. What was an annex? Uncle Kwan led her to the third floor, and she didn't ask.

On the third floor, Uncle Kwan opened a room's door. "Miss Cummins, please come in. I'll have someone send your toiletries and daily necessities. If you have any specific brand preferences, please let me know."

"No, nothing else," Grace said.

Uncle Kwan left. Grace looked around the large room. It was femininely decorated with a retro feel. The Chinese-style furniture created an elegant, quiet atmosphere.

She glanced at the furniture; it appeared to be rosewood. If so, the room's furnishings would be worth a fortune. How wealthy was the Reed family? she wondered.

While Grace was admiring the rosewood, a servant arrived with toiletries and new sheets. The servant changed the linens, brought up Grace's duffel bag from her rented house, and left.

"Thank you," Grace said.

After the servant left, Grace unpacked. To her surprise, a wedding dress hung in the closet. The style was outdated; finding a similar dress now would be difficult. However, it was exquisitely made and neatly stored in a transparent dust bag.

Did the dress belong to a previous occupant? Grace wondered. Turning, she saw another door.

Behind it was another room, completely different from the first. This room felt cold and oppressive, decorated in shades of blue and black. The modern, concise furniture wasn't rosewood and, though stylish, made the room feel sparsely furnished and somewhat empty.

Were the two rooms connected?
