She wanted her mother; she wanted her brother. She cried desperately, but she couldn't make a sound. Just then, a bell rang, pulling her from the nightmare.

Grace slowly opened her eyes. She heard a gentle voice. "You're awake?"

A pretty face peered down, bright eyes filled with indescribable gentleness.

"Yes…" she replied dully, still disoriented. Her dreams and reality seemed to intertwine, overwhelming her.

"Answer the phone," he said, holding it to her ear.

Grace froze as she heard a familiar voice. "Grace? Are you awake, Grace?"

Grace's senses sharpened. "Lina!"

"Yes, where are you? Are you with Jason? I called last night, and he answered. I called again just now, and he answered then, too." Lina Sweeney was astonished. Who would have thought Jason would answer both calls?

"You called last night?" Grace asked, surprised.

"Yes, he said you were asleep," Lina said. "What's going on? Do you live together? What's happening between you and him?" A torrent of questions poured forth.

Grace bit her lip and looked at Jason, who held her phone. "It's… complicated. I'll tell you later. What… what did you want to talk about?"

"A witness in your case might be in neighboring S City, and I wanted to discuss it," Lina said.

Grace was stunned. "All right, then… when are you free? Let's meet!"

"Let's meet today after work," Lina said. "Are you working at the Sanitation Service Center? I can pick you up."

"No, let's meet at our usual place," Grace said.

"All right," Lina replied.

After they hung up, Grace tried to sit up. As her hands pushed against the bed, pain shot through her fingertips.

"Ah!" she cried out. His hands were instantly under her arms, lifting her as if she were a child.

Grace felt awkward, but the pain in her finger instantly reminded her of the previous night. Her face tightened. "Where's my photo album? Where's my photo album?"
