Chapter 277
“Sick? You were sick?” His voice was suddenly tense.
“Only a fever, lasting a few days. It made me drowsy, but I recovered quickly. Unfortunately, my dress was gone,” she said regretfully. Later, her grandmother secretly promised to buy her a beautiful dress if she topped her class in the final exam. However, after achieving first place, she had to leave her grandmother to return to her father. Before leaving, her grandmother slipped a new dress into her luggage.
Just then, a large hand touched her forehead. Grace was startled and looked up at Jason. “I… I don’t have a fever now.”
“I know,” he whispered. “I’ll buy you any dress you want in the future.”
His words made her shiver. “It’s not like I’m a child who obsesses over dresses.” She bit her lip and lowered her eyes. The longer she looked at him, the faster her heart beat.
“Is that so?” Jason withdrew his hand and flipped through the remaining photos in the album. He picked up the photo of her in the floral dress. “Sis, can I have this photo?”
She was stunned. Despite his question, he’d already put the photograph away.
“Why do you want it?” she asked blankly.
“I think it’s cute,” he said. “I want to keep it.”
When they lived together, he seemed to dislike the neighborhood children. Why did he have such a fondness for a childhood photo of her?
Grace pressed her lips together. “That’s the only photo I have of me in that floral dress.” It held special sentimental value because her grandmother had given her the dress.
“Great.” A smile touched his lips. “The photo means even more now.”
She was speechless. What was he talking about? “Why don’t I get you another photo?” she offered.
“No, I only want this one,” he said, leaning forward to touch her face. “I never change my mind about what I like. It’s the same with photos, and the same with people.”
Her face was reflected in his dark eyes, and his voice seemed to surround her. Grace couldn’t retrieve the photo and had to concede defeat. She still wondered why he wanted that specific photo. Was it really just that cute?
