Chapter 373
After placing the ingredients in the refrigerator, Grace turned to see Jason leaning against the kitchen doorframe, gazing at her thoughtfully. She turned away, unwilling to meet his gaze. Exiting the kitchen meant facing him, and the possibility of him pulling her by the arm.
"You haven't said goodnight," he said.
Grace, startled, quickly replied, "Goodnight."
A smile spread across Jason's face as he continued to stare. "Sis, your goodnights are getting rather perfunctory."
Grace was speechless.
"Someone suggested that to make you like me, I should try to please you," Jason said, bending down to meet her eyes. "What do you think? Would you like me if I pleased you?"
Grace's eyes widened in disbelief. What is he saying? He wants to please me?! Why would he say such things?!
Jason seemed amused by her expression. "Why? Are you that shocked that I want to please you?"
Grace felt speechless.
Jason gently touched her lips. "So, Sis, you should realize how much I want you to like me. Tell me, how should I please you to make you like me?"
Grace's face flushed, her heart pounding. He wants me to like him? To the extent of pleasing me? How much of his feelings are real? She remained silent.
On the afternoon of Tomb Sweeping Day, Jason visited Old Master Reed in the hospital.
"Have you visited your father's grave?" Old Master Reed asked, his frail form a stark contrast to his former powerful self.
"Yes," Jason replied.
Old Master Reed used to visit the grave with Jason, but since his health deteriorated, Jason had begun visiting it beforehand.
"How do you think your father would feel if he knew you were bewitched by a woman? I think he'd slap you awake!" Old Master Reed scoffed, displeased by his waning control over his grandson.
"Grandpa, are you trying to remind me of something?" Jason asked, raising an eyebrow. His peach-blossom eyes reminded the old man of Jason's mother. Those eyes are so much like that woman's!
If not for that woman, Old Master Reed wouldn't have been estranged from his son, who would not have died away from home.
