Chapter 424
Kyla Corbyn's voice came over the line: "Grace, Nelson's surgery went well. The doctor said that once he stabilizes over the next two days, he can begin voice recognition training."
"That's great!" Grace exclaimed. "I'll come visit him this afternoon." She then inquired about Nelson's ward before ending the call.
"Is that about the child with hearing problems?" Jason asked, looking at Grace.
"Yes, Nelson's operation was successful. I'm free this afternoon and plan to go to the hospital," Grace replied.
"Then I'll go with you," Jason said.
Grace's eyes widened. "You want to come? Butdon't you have work?"
"I'll just ask the secretary to postpone this afternoon's appointments. Nothing is urgent," Jason said indifferently.
Grace knew that as president of such a large corporation, everything was usually exceptionally urgent.
"What is it? Don't you want me to come?" Jason asked.
"Noit's not that." Jason's offer surprised and pleased her.
"Then it's settled," Jason said, lowering his head to continue eating. Grace followed suit. Just as she was finishing, he said, "Sis, will you make me more meals in the future?"
Grace was startled. Meeting his gaze, she noticed rice grains on her lip. Jason smiled softly, wiped them away, and asked again, "Would that be alright?"
"My cooking is ordinary, not as good as your chef's," Grace replied.
"So? I like your cooking," Jason said.
Doubt flickered in her eyes. Even if he weren't picky, she didn't understand his preference for her simple meals over the chef's. Was he just being kind? Was it flattery? It was as if, as he'd said before, he found pleasure in anything she made.
As if reading her thoughts, he said, "Sis, I like it when you're busy for me. When you cook for me, you're thinking of me, right? Eating your cooking makes me happy. It's because you made it especially for me"
Jason's possessiveness was growing, even terrifying him. He wanted everything about her, including her cooking. His words, like stones dropped in a lake, created ripples in Grace's heart. His gaze and voice conveyed his deep love. It seemed she was the only one it seemed he would ecstatically accept anything she offered.
