Chapter 58

The red light turned green. Sean was about to start his car when his body suddenly stiffened. "His figureโ€ฆ" The image of the man considered the most important person in the city appeared in his mind. This man looked remarkably like Jason Reed!

However, that was impossible. How could Jason possibly be with Grace? The absurdity of it struck him. The driver behind him honked, and Sean quickly started his car. At that moment, the man beside Grace looked toward his vehicle.

When the man turned his head, Sean felt his blood run cold.

"Jason?!"

Was it really him? Even though his clothes and hairstyle were different from Sean's memory, that face strongly resembled Jason Reed's. Sean's body tensed as he drove through the light, debating whether to pull over or turn around. Every instinct urged him to make a U-turn and take a second look. He rubbed his eyes, feeling the situation had become surreal.

Meanwhile, at the intersection, Grace rubbed her eyes. Finally, whatever had been irritating themโ€”an eyelash or dustโ€”was gone. Jason's breath had helped.

She glanced at him and blinked. "That's good, thank youโ€”" but Jason's attention was elsewhere. He was staring angrily across the intersection.

"Jay, what are you looking at?" Grace asked.

"Nothing. I justโ€ฆ I think I saw a familiar face," Jason said faintly.

"Was it a friend?"

"No, he and I aren't friends," he said, his angry expression flashing again.

Sean slept poorly that night, the intersection scene replaying in his mind. Surely, he'd been mistaken, or perhaps the man with Grace simply resembled Jason. Wasn't it said everyone has a doppelganger?

Besides, how could a man like Jason, so powerful and influential, be with Grace? Furthermore, Grace had killed Jason's fiancรฉe. In what universe would Jason be with her?

No one would believe him if he told them. Yet, a deep unease remained. What if it was true? What if that man really was Jason? He didn't dare continue the thought.

The next day, Sean went to the street Grace was cleaning. He parked his car, got out, and approached her. He needed to know for certain.

"Are youโ€ฆ with anyone right now?" Sean asked politely. His tone was polite, but the question was pointed.

Grace was stunned. She hadn't expected Sean to confront her so early and ask such a question.

"That's none of your business, Mr. Stevens," she said. "I'm working. Please move."

She continued cleaning as if he were invisible.

Sean's expression turned cold. Who did she think she was, ignoring him? He grabbed her hand. "I'm not joking. Who was the man with you yesterday?"
