Chapter 16

Harrison’s expression changed, and he immediately called Hannah. No one answered.

Lauren glanced at the time. “It’s fifteen minutes past five. Hannah should be picking up her nephew now!”

“She usually brings her phone,” Harrison replied in a low voice. He then called Maria, another nanny. “Maria, where’s Hannah?”

Maria’s voice was choked with sobs. “Oh… she… the school called… Hannah… she was in a car accident…”

“Is it serious?” Harrison’s face fell.

“Hannah and her nephew… they died,” Maria cried.

Harrison slowly hung up, then activated the speakerphone. Lauren, pale, said, “Nashy, Hera, take care of Mr. Lewis. We’ll go back to the hospital.”

Hannah had been the Lewis family’s nanny for over twenty years, working diligently and devotedly. They couldn't simply stand by.

Nash asked Mr. Dean to assist with Mr. Lewis’s discharge, then took him home with Hera.

As they left, three Rolls-Royces pulled up. Bodyguards in suits emerged, followed by an animated, gray-haired older gentleman.

Mr. Dean, shocked, greeted him respectfully. “Mr. Watson, what brings you here?”

Brian also stepped forward. “Mr. Watson…”

This was Walter Watson, Jonford’s richest man, owner of eight publicly traded companies, with assets exceeding fourteen billion dollars.

Walter smiled. “I heard you returned. I came to visit.”

Brian chuckled. “Flattered you remember me, Mr. Watson.” Walter’s vast business empire encompassed many fields, including significant pharmaceutical investments in Jonford.

Walter sighed. “My wife is ill. That’s why I’m here.”

Both Brian and Mr. Dean’s faces darkened. Mrs. Watson suffered from a mysterious illness; seemingly healthy, she remained unconscious, yet showed no signs of brain death. Brian had sought answers three years prior, to no avail.

Walter understood their expressions but remained calm. “I heard your teacher is Capiton’s imperial physician, Miracle Doctor Tanner. Could I ask for his help?”

Brian replied wryly, “He’s retired, and preoccupied with political matters…” His teacher, nearly ninety, was unlikely to assist unless contacted by a select few Capiton officials.

“Forget it,” Walter said sadly. “God’s will, I suppose.”

Mr. Dean whispered to Brian, “Why not ask Nash?”

Brian hesitated, then said, “Mr. Watson, my grandmaster has returned. Perhaps he can cure Mrs. Watson.”

Walter was stunned. Dr. Tanner’s master was well over ninety; Brian’s grandmaster would be over a hundred. He thought of Thomas King, the master’s own master—a legendary figure—whose skills were undeniable.

“Then please ask him,” Walter pleaded. “If my wife is cured, I’ll pay eleven million in consultation fees!”
