Chapter 23

“He… he’s my fiancé!” Hera felt uneasy. All her grandfather’s memories of Nash were gone. Would he object to their marriage? He couldn't! She had to obtain the marriage certificate with Nash immediately.

Herman pinched the bridge of his nose. “I see. You two can go. Harrison, get Hubert and his family here immediately!”

Hera looked at Nash with a helpless expression.

“Let’s go,” Nash said.

Outside, Hera felt like crying, though the tears wouldn't come. “When it rains, it pours,” she said. “Grandpa will definitely reclaim the Royal Bay villa!”

Nash smiled. “You can still live in the apartment.”

“Are you stupid?” Hera retorted angrily. “The residents of Royal Bay are wealthy or influential. We could benefit greatly from associating with just a few of them!”

“I’ll prescribe something to help repair his damaged nerves and recover his memories as soon as possible,” Nash said.

“Yes, you must help Grandpa regain his memories! Otherwise, Uncle’s family will take advantage of this situation.”

They walked downstairs, chatting. Maria had prepared breakfast, and they ate before leaving. Hera ate absentmindedly while Nash went outside to smoke.

He found the security room. The guard was watching inappropriate videos. He heard knocks, looked up, but saw no one. More knocks followed.

“Which bastard is disturbing me?” The guard grabbed his baton and opened the door. Something stung his neck, and he found himself in a bar, surrounded by women. He grinned and began to dance.

Nash entered the security room, connected his phone to the computer, and quickly copied nearly three days’ worth of surveillance footage from Lewis Estate. He removed the phone, then discreetly removed a thin golden needle from the guard’s neck and vanished.

The scene before the guard faded. He looked around, his mouth twitching. “Did I drink too much?”

Back at the villa, Hera finished breakfast. Seeing Nash, she immediately pulled him outside. “My mother wants us at headquarters!”

He followed her. A law enforcement vehicle waited at the gate. Two officers in civilian clothes approached.

The middle-aged officer extended his hand. “Good morning, Mr. Calcraft.”

Nash shook his hand. “Good morning.”

The young female officer said, “Mr. Calcraft, can we speak with you alone?”

“Certainly.”

Nash went with them. The female officer activated a recording device. “This conversation is being recorded. Please answer at your discretion.”

Nash was stunned. “Are you interrogating me?”

Before the female officer could reply, the middle-aged man interjected, smiling. “Mr. Calcraft, don’t misunderstand. We’re investigating a case of intentional homicide.”
