Chapter 91

Nash single-handedly annihilated this Green Bamboo Association branch.

“You… you killed Crow! Brothers, avenge Crow!” a tattooed young man yelled, addressing the assembled Green Bamboo members.

Nash stepped forward, seizing the youth’s throat, turning his face purple. In a hoarse whisper, he demanded, “Where’s Hera?”

The young man remained stubbornly silent, his defiance palpable. Nash tightened his grip, snapping the youth’s neck. The remaining Green Bamboo members recoiled, terrified.

He tossed the corpse to the ground, his eyes blazing. “If anything happens to her, you all join him.”

Terror gripped the Green Bamboo Association; none dared to defy him.

A young man from the third floor, where a poker game had been in progress, stammered, “T-the women are in the basement. T-they’re unharmed.”

“Take me to them,” Nash ordered.

The young man, utterly demoralized, could barely move. It took considerable effort to drag his legs to the bar.

“Benson… what… what do we do now?” a freight company porter swallowed hard, clearly unprepared for the Green Bamboo's abject terror.

Salvatore’s jaw hung open. This man’s ruthlessness was shocking. How had he obliterated a skull with a single blow?

At the third-floor bar, a heavy chain secured a thick iron gate. The young guide trembled, “The… the key was with Crow.”

Nash grabbed the chain, mustered his strength, and ripped it from its moorings, tearing the gate from its frame. The young man fainted.

Skadi, already dressed, sat on the sofa, Hera in her arms. Her dull eyes brightened at Nash's arrival. “Nash, you… why are you here?”

He strode to the sofa, noting Hera’s swollen face. “Are you both alright?” he whispered softly.

Skadi shook her head. “I’m fine, but you need to see Hera.”

He crouched, examining Hera’s neck. Her spine was misaligned, compressing nerves.

“Let’s get out of here.”

He lifted Hera, Skadi following. Exiting the room, Skadi retrieved their phones. As they left the building, the streets were thronged with people; sirens wailed.

The Green Bamboo members and Salvatore's men scattered. A van pulled up.

“Nash, get in,” Xeno said. The Koenigsegg held only three, so he’d commandeered a van from Salvatore.

Nash entered with Skadi. Xeno expertly navigated the chaotic streets. A large contingent of officers, armed with riot shields, arrived on the scene.

In a patrol car, an officer reported, “Chief Menals, two dead. One is Crow; his head… is missing.”

Fitz Menals, the Jonford Inspection Office’s deputy head, replied calmly, “Crow did much evil. He bullied his own men. Serves him right.”

“Sir, it doesn’t look like infighting,” the officer countered.

Fitz’s face hardened. “Arrest everyone from the Green Bamboo Association. Interrogate them.”

“Yes, sir. I’ll complete the report,” the officer responded promptly.
