They continued chatting while Yarrick worked through the rest on her computer. Before long, everything was up and running. “Great! You’re good to go. I’ll let you know when the samples are ready,” Amanda said, finally pulling her hand away—though it felt like she had lingered just a second too long. “You can head back now.” Yarrick gave her a polite nod and turned to leave.
Yarrick couldn’t help but think that people in the fashion industry were used to being touchy. It probably didn’t mean anything to them anymore. Yarrick shrugged and walked back to his desk. “Yarrick, hey, mate! Over here for a sec!”
He had just taken a sip of water when Ethan showed up at his desk, looking serious. “Yarrick, the head of HR wants to see you. Now.”
Yarrick’s eyes widened, and he followed Ethan through the corridor, eventually stopping in front of his office.
“Go on in. She wants to see you urgently. It’s 6:00 pm today. Look for Ms. Chapman.”
For a second, a quiet panic began to set in. Were they going to fire him? He had only been working here for a week, and as far as he knew, he’d been doing everything right.
Yarrick tried to rationalize Ethan’s casual tone. Maybe they were just more casual with things here. Maybe they were just used to being around actors and models who were often touchy.
If there was one tiny flaw in Yarrick’s otherwise stellar performance, it was that he tended to leave the office on time every evening. But that was only so he could visit Hailey.
