Chapter 13

Everyone froze at the sound of Trevon's voice. Ashley's jaw dropped; she wondered who this man was, stepping in like a movie star, making even her crush, Timothy, seem ordinary in comparison.

Without a glance at Ashley, Trevon sauntered to Selina. Leaning in close, his gaze smoldering, he murmured, "Sorry, babe, hit some crazy traffic. My bad."

Selina's face lit up with a smirk. Taking Trevon's arm, she replied, "Perfect timing."

Sara gasped, her eyes wide as she stared at the pair. "You… you guys…"

Recognition dawned on Quinton, his face draining of color. "Trevon! You're… Selina's husband?"

A buzz of shock rippled through the room. Trevon Brady—the enigmatic tycoon of the Brady family, the man who had just become CEO of Insight Group.

"That's right," Trevon said confidently. "I'd call you my father-in-law, Mr. Harvey, but since my wife here is done playing nice, let's skip it." He turned to Selina. "Babe, it doesn't matter if Mr. Harvey gives you trouble changing your address; you're moving in with me anyway."

"Sure," Selina replied, having given up on expecting decency from the Harveys. They wanted her gone, yet pretended otherwise, concerned only with reputation and their company. It was disgusting.

Even Ashley, the queen of overreaction, was speechless. "Selina, when did you get mixed up with Mr. Brady? You've never mentioned him before!"

Trevon was one of the most eligible bachelors in town—super mysterious, which only added to his allure. Still young, he already commanded the Brady family business, seizing the CEO position at Insight Group and eliminating obstacles with ruthless efficiency. Rumors circulated about his iron-fisted rule. With no public photos, everyone assumed he was an ogre. Now, he proved himself easily the city's most desirable catch.

"Since when do I owe you an update on my life?" Selina retorted, looking at Ashley with utter scorn.

A sting of hurt shot through Ashley, but she masked her pain, covering her face as she began to cry. "Selina, I just don't get why you hate me so much…"

Manuel snapped, "Knock it off, Selina! Ashley's only ever been sweet to you. Since you returned, she's bent over backward to make you comfortable. Why are you attacking her?"

Ashley's cries intensified, a calculated performance designed to portray Selina as the villain in Trevon's eyes. She couldn't fathom how Selina had landed a man like Trevon, and over her dead body would her sister steal such a prize. In Ashley's mind, the best men should be hers; Selina didn't even compare.

Trevon interrupted, "Sweetheart, your sister's acting skills… Oscar-worthy."

Selina teased, "Babe, you do have an eye for talent."

"No kidding," Trevon replied. "I've come across too many like her; it's sickening."

Their playful jabs sent a chill down Ashley's spine. "Mr. Brady, I—I'm not like that," she stammered, scrambling to regain composure.

Quinton's voice was level. "Mr. Brady, don't you think you're going a bit too far? Ashley's a good, innocent girl. You can't just trash-talk her like that." In this turf war between Harvey Group and Insight Group, Quinton didn't flinch. He had age and experience on his side—he built Harvey Group from scratch. No young hotshot CEO would intimidate him, no matter how suave.

"Let's bounce and get your address updated to mine," Trevon told Selina, a smirk playing on his lips. "Can't have you losing brain cells hanging around this crowd."

"Okay, let's go."

Hand in hand, Trevon and Selina went to the registrar's office. They presented their marriage license, and Selina's address was officially changed to Trevon's.

It was official—they were married. The sight of that license and the official approval hit the Harvey family hard. When did Selina and Trevon become an item? they wondered inwardly.

With the paperwork complete, Selina led Trevon out. Sara erupted, "Selina, are you out of your mind? Why didn't you say anything about getting married?"

"Mrs. Harvey, save your breath. We're done. From now on, my life has nothing to do with the Harvey family," Selina said, her expression unreadable as she pulled Trevon toward the exit.

Ashley, desperate and tearful, played her last card. "Selina, remember your engagement to Timothy? What about our family's honor and Timothy's feelings?"

"Looks like you're the only daughter of the Harvey family now, Ashley. Timothy's all yours," Selina retorted without hesitation, tightening her grip on Trevon's hand. "And you think I'd ever trade my man for some guy? Please," she scoffed. Trevon couldn't hide his amusement. "That's my girl."

"Get ready to hear more of that at home," Selina winked.

They walked away, the room's envy bearing down on Ashley like a ton of bricks. Ashley seethed, her dreams shattering. Timothy seemed insignificant compared to Trevon; now she wanted Trevon. How could a nobody like Selina, with nothing to her name—no brains and no class—be right for Trevon? No way! Only I am his equal, she thought.

Quinton pursued them, shouting, "Selina! This is your lost chance! You're throwing away the Harvey family's fortune. Do you think the Brady family will care about you without your family's clout?"

"Honey, Mr. Harvey thinks I should be scared," Selina said, batting her eyelashes at Trevon, amplifying the drama.

Trevon looked down at her, smirking. Should he praise her acting, or joke about her really getting into it? "Don't worry, Mr. Harvey. I'm with Selina for who she is, not for power or status. By my side, she's got all the power she'll ever need."
