Chapter 141
"Honey, you hugged me all night. Didn't your waist get tired?" Selina was speechless. Their intimacy was growing, but Trevon's mumbled complaints about her nighttime embrace seemed shortsighted. "Would you like to try it? I'm in my prime. I won't tire of holding you and sleeping on the sofa for several nights," Trevon said.
"Honey, are you telling me dirty jokes?" Selina must have misinterpreted his words. Trevon, head of the Brady family, CEO of Insight Group, and the world's youngest billionaire, would shock anyone who heard his comments. "I am telling you dirty jokes. Honey, I'm a normal man. Don't overthink it. I have desires, and you should know that," he explained.
Facing Trevon's intense gaze, Selina tactfully changed the subject. "Then let's go to bed early and get up early for breakfast. We'll be healthier that way."
"Give me a kiss first," Trevon requested.
"Honey, I haven't brushed my teeth yet," Selina replied. "Don't kiss me before I brush my teeth."
"Come back as soon as you're done," Trevon said.
Selina nodded. "Okay."
After brushing her teeth and kissing Trevon, Selina playfully teased him. They enjoyed a happy breakfast, holding hands. Devin was secretly pleased; Trevon and Selina had spent the entire previous night in the living room, and he'd specifically instructed the servants not to disturb them. If this continued, the Brady family would soon have a new member.
Several days later, at Ravencrest Mountain, Selina avoided using her identity as Flying Shadow, a former international racing champion. It was too high-profile, and the competition was just for fun. Using her hacking skills, she created a fictitious double championship title from a remote country and smoothly passed the review.
She drove her Lamborghini, with Nora as her passenger, to the competition venue. After parking and signing her name, she completed the registration process effortlessly.
Nora glanced at Selina's application form, surprised. "Selina, you've participated in two quasi-international car races in Draconis?" Selina's driving skills were impressive, yet her racing history was unexpected. Draconis was a small country; Nora hadn't anticipated Selina beginning her racing career there.
"Well, I'm qualified," Selina said. "I'll give you a championship trophy tonight."
Nora nodded. "Okay. I'll wait and see."
Selina and Nora walked hand-in-hand into the venue. Three people approached them.
Caleb's mouth twitched upon seeing Selina. "Why are you here?" He was astonished and concerned, remembering Selina's formidable racing skills.
Despite avenging his friend Manuel, Caleb had competed fiercely against Selina and been defeated, spending a long recovery in the hospital. Selina's strength was undeniable.
A cold voice called out, "Melina."
Selina's eyes shifted from Caleb to a familiar, hateful face, and she smiled coldly. It was Lloyd, her fourth older brother, a world-renowned racing driver. He hadn't been in Sokovis when she last remembered, and his presence now felt like a consequence of her rebirth.
Lloyd's gaze was cold and indifferent. He felt nothing special for his sister, lost for twenty-one years. His return was to assuage Sara's guilt and complete the family.
Unlike Manuel's initial disgust, stemming from Ashley's misrepresentations, Lloyd viewed Selina merely as a piece in the Harvey family puzzle. He expected obedience, offering gifts but allowing no reciprocation. Selina's independent will, however, threatened to shatter the family, fueling Lloyd's hatred.
He experienced a strange sense of déjà vu, wondering if this was simply due to Selina's familial connection. Manuel noticed Lloyd's animosity. He had come to support Lloyd and Caleb, both members of a Sokovis racing club. Lloyd pursued racing professionally, while Caleb considered it a hobby. Manuel, however, was deeply affected by Selina's presence, overcome with guilt and unable to cope with the conflicting emotions.
Selina briefly acknowledged Lloyd before turning to leave with Nora.
"You just want to leave?" Lloyd, assuming Selina felt guilty, grabbed her hand. "You've done so much to the Harvey family. Don't you feel guilty?"
Selina shook off his hand. "No, I'm very happy. Is that satisfactory? Stop talking to me like that. I don't feel guilty at all! I don't care what happens to the Harvey family."
Lloyd was stunned by her audacity. He'd encountered countless people, but never one so ungrateful. He wondered if she was mad. "Lloyd, that's enough," Manuel intervened urgently. Lloyd looked at Manuel in disbelief. "Manuel, what's wrong with you? Didn't you hear what Selina said? Why did you stop me?" He believed Selina should have been stopped. Manuel, unable to explain, simply urged Selina, "Selina, go quickly. Don't make a scene."
"Who do you think you are? What I do is none of your business," Selina retorted mercilessly. Seeing Nora and needing to compete, she dragged Nora away to avoid further conflict.
"Selina, I finally understand why you said your family was worse than my mother," Nora said. Selina had previously described her family to Nora, and having witnessed their behavior firsthand, Nora felt they were indeed a dysfunctional group. They neglected Selina while she lived with them, slandering her, and now they continued their harassment. If family was a weakness for Selina, as it was for Susie, it would undoubtedly be exploited.
