Chapter 49
Selina had an appointment with Malcolm the following morning, and she was upset about missing her gym workout. This group of people, however, provided an unexpected warm-up.
"You versus all of us! Don't be stupid. We're all members of the judo club!"
"Yes! How could you beat someone for no reason? Apologize to Renee now!"
"Wait. Renee just got her black belt. How could she possibly be knocked down by such a weak woman?"
"By the way, she's pretty."
Selina, unable to bear their nagging, curled her lip. "No? Fine, I'm leaving then." She turned to go.
"Do you think you can get away with this?"
A burly man, six feet tall and weighing 220 pounds, with prominent chest muscles, approached Selina, his very presence exuding pressure.
Even though Selina was a woman, they couldn't let her get away with beating Renee, the club's wealthy sponsor who covered many of their expenses. The burly man rarely struck women, especially one as beautiful as Selina, but he saw this as an opportunity to please Renee.
Before he could touch her, Selina spun, grabbed his fingers, and twisted. The man cried out in agony, his face reddening. In the next instant, a swift sweep kick sent the 220-pound man sprawling into a corner. He lay there, clutching his stomach, trembling.
It was only then that the others realized Selina's skill.
"How dare she do that again! Kill her!"
"Come on, girl. You'll cry for mercy!"
Lydia and Malcolm arrived to find several men writhing in pain on the ground. The women, pale and frightened, huddled beside Renee. Several black-belt holders, burly and muscular, were no match for Selina. What is going on? Is she a master fighter? they wondered.
Lydia approached Selina, saying unhappily, "Why didn't you ask me to join you? I'd like some exercise after lunch. I'm so bored."
Malcolm patted Lydia gently. "Stop talking nonsense," he said, then looked Selina up and down. "Are you alright, Selina?"
Selina shook her head. "I'm fine. Don't worry, Malcolm. I can handle these losers. I haven't forgotten the kickboxing and special forces combat skills Jeffrey taught me." Despite the trauma of her past life, she hadn't slacked off; she trained daily at Trevon's villa. The feeling of combat had returned.
"That's good."
The men on the ground muttered, "Loser..." They realized they were hopelessly outmatched, unable to even resist her attacks. She dodged all our attacks and knocked us down with one move! Even the taller, stronger men couldn't defeat her! Who is she? All we can do is play dead, or we'll be knocked out again!
Just as Selina was about to leave, Renee trembled. "Do you think you can get away with this? You hit so many people. If I call the police, it'll end badly for you!" She was furious. How could these losers be knocked out by a woman? They couldn't even avenge me! They're embarrassing me!
"Really?" Selina sneered.
She walked past the groaning men toward Renee, who panicked. "W-What do you want? Don't mess with me! You can't—"
Renee, remembering her defeat, feared for her life and tried to flee, but fear paralyzed her. The two women holding her, seeing Selina's fierce expression, abandoned Renee and screamed as they ran.
"Wait! Don't go!" Renee cried, nearly collapsing, drenched in sweat.
Selina's approach pounded in Renee's heart like a hammer. She was terrified, not only by Selina's skill but also by the murderous intent in her eyes. She felt like a venomous snake had her entangled.
Renee slumped to the ground, exhausted, even urinating in fear.
Selina stopped, took a picture of Renee's terrified state. "Go ahead and call the police. I'm curious what you'll do," she said disdainfully. Now I see what the woman who relentlessly insults Manuel and uses suicide as a threat is capable of.
Selina left with Malcolm and Lydia, unconcerned about the consequences.
Only after Selina's departure did Renee's terror subside, replaced by humiliation. She couldn't believe she had urinated in fear and been photographed.
As Selina walked away, the judo members tentatively stood, oblivious to Renee's fury.
