Chapter 53
Lydia started as the drummer. The stage lights were colorful. Thomas played guitar and sang their team song. Lake lowered his head, expertly fingering the bass, lost in his own world, like the silent king of a mountain. They cooperated flawlessly; none fell behind. They didn't look like a newly formed band that hadn't even had a proper rehearsal. Each member used their unique skills to complement the others, creating a superior performance.
Selina, as the lead guitarist, played a crucial role for the underground rock band. Her powerful performance and captivating stage presence instantly engaged the audience. Her striking appearance was a bonus; in a world that valued appearances, a beautiful woman with exceptional skill was naturally the most eye-catching.
“Damn it! When did The Rose get so good? Their last performance wasn’t this amazing!”
“Is it the equipment and venue?”
“No, I remember The Rose’s guitarist was a man last time. Now it’s a girl! Cool! I love her queen-like stage presence!”
“The chemistry between the lead singer, the Shaw brothers, and the new drummer is incredible. Their ranking's been high recently, and with the new guitarist… it's amazing! That girl—I remember her! She played at The Rose's Starlight Club show! She really joined the band! She’s so beautiful!”
Everyone’s attention was focused on Selina, the lead guitarist. Regardless, Selina lowered her eyes and played wildly. Each note was a silent scream, captivating the entire audience. She released her emotions: her anger, the suffering of her past life, her disappointment in her family, and the joy of finding someone precious again after her rebirth.
The powerful guitar performance seemed to resurrect Selina. The feeling was indescribable. A mix of emotions surged as she played her solo; her sweat shimmered like fireworks, mesmerizing everyone. The audience was captivated, almost holding their breath.
Oh my! What kind of magical guitarist was she?
Chapter 51
Her emotions were so powerful and her skill so impressive that the audience was completely overwhelmed by the performance's charm. Instantly, everyone became a Selina fan. Thomas and the others were shocked. This performance was stronger and more intense than her Starlight Club debut. Selina continued to grow and improve, and her passion affected her bandmates, elevating their performance beyond their usual capabilities.
Lydia smiled, watching the radiant Selina. Selina was a treasure, the most talented member Lydia had known from the start. Selina learned quickly and developed her own unique style. She was too young to realize her full potential, spoiled by her friends’ support. Lydia loved seeing Selina shine so brightly. While this display of talent might make many fall for Selina, and made Lydia feel protective of her treasure, it didn't matter. Seeing Selina glow on stage brought Lydia more satisfaction than anything else in the world. Selina was destined for greatness, to become a global favorite.
From the best vantage point, Trevon watched Selina command the stage like a queen, her presence undeniable. His eyes deepened; he couldn’t look away. Nothing—the fireworks, the sounds, the beautiful scenery—could distract him. Only Selina mattered. He mused, “Selina, how many secrets do you hold? The more I learn, the more you feel like an inexhaustible gold mine. You always surprise me.”
Charley said, “Trevon, let me confirm. You and your wife have a contractual marriage, right?”
Trevon stared at the brilliant woman on stage, thinking, Damn it! I’ve never seen such a cool girl! I'm a little smitten. What do I do?
The next second, a murderous intent washed over Charley; every hair stood on end. Charley surrendered, begging for mercy before Trevon erupted. “I swear to God, I have no ulterior motives!”
Trevon looked away indifferently. Even Charley, despite his playful nature, knew better than to pursue Trevon's wife, especially the woman Trevon loved. Charley had no death wish.
Charley touched his chin. “But I didn’t expect your wife to be so amazing. You could introduce me to that app. I’d definitely… ”
Chapter 1
Perhaps, like Trevon, Charley could find an amazing contract wife. He’d never been in love, never met a woman who made him fall. A girl like Selina would be nice.
Trevon's eyes grew calm and restrained. Finally, an idea occurred to him, and he said lightly, “Charley, do me a favor.”
Charley smiled. “No problem. I’m the biggest sponsor of this open-air performance. How will you thank me?”
Trevon said, “Don't you always want a helicopter? It's yours.”
Charley’s eyes widened. “Seriously? That took you ages to get through the system!” The helicopter was medium-sized, suitable for aviation and even military use. For Trevon, money solved most problems; acquiring such a helicopter required connections and time—even Charley couldn't get one, despite having seen Trevon’s and wanting one ever since.
“Charley, you know I’m loyal to my friends and subordinates. I repay those who help me.” Trevon was a man of principle, never owing favors. He rewarded hard work generously, and never owed his friends anything. That’s why so many worked for him.
Charley grinned, excited. “Got it! Thanks to you, I made a killing! I'll get on it right away!”
