Chapter 57
After the music festival, The Rose received considerable attention and won a popularity award. Following Elaine's report of the company’s internal issue, the budget was immediately increased, allowing Elaine and the band to celebrate. Elaine couldn't stop smiling. "Selina, will you join us?"
"Okay… Let's go. Since I'm the lead guitarist, I'm part of the team," Selina replied. Turning to Malcolm, she asked, "Malcolm, will you come with us?"
"This is your celebration; I won't intrude. I saw what I wanted today, and I'm happy. That's enough for me," Malcolm said, shaking his phone at Selina and Lydia. He had recorded their performance. "Selina, I'll consider this my payment for my legal fees! Haha. I'll show Jeffrey and Benjamin this later; they'll be jealous," he added.
After Malcolm left, Elaine still looked expectant. "Wow, what a handsome man! Ladies, does your friend have a girlfriend?"
Lydia playfully poked Elaine's head. "Elaine, you're married! Be a little more reserved."
"Waaah! So, being married means I can't gossip about men? That's unfair to all married women!" Elaine retorted.
Meanwhile, Trevon watched Selina and the others leave the back door, chatting and laughing. His gaze was deep and pensive.
Charley put an arm around Trevon's shoulder. "They're gone, and you're still watching? Worried about your wife? Come on, follow them!"
Trevon remained silent and walked away.
"Hmm, I was just kidding. Are you really going?" Charley asked, rubbing his chin, his eyes narrowed. He'd secured a helicopter from Trevon that day, so he dared not be too boisterous, fearing Trevon would revoke the privilege.
Trevon reached the door, his hand on the knob. Seeing Charley standing obediently, he frowned slightly.
Charley, thinking Trevon had forgotten something, waved. "Wishing you every success, Trevon."
"Why are you still standing there? Let's go!" Trevon commanded.
"Huh? You're taking me?" Charley was surprised. He mused, "When did Trevon become so easygoing?" Previously, Trevon had nearly flayed him alive for following him. "Forget it if you're not going," Trevon added.
"No, I'm going with you! You're the kindest," Charley replied quickly.
At that moment, Trevon received a WhatsApp message from Selina. She was going to a Japanese restaurant with The Rose. The message also included a thank-you emoji. Trevon replied with a smiley emoji.
"Holy cow! Holy cow! Holy cow!" Charley exclaimed, his eyes wide. He thought, Oh no! He rarely saw Trevon smile, but today he'd laughed during Selina's performance and again upon receiving her message. Trevon, known for his indifference towards women and coldness at work, seemed to have fallen in love.
With the company funds, Elaine treated The Rose to a lavish Japanese dinner. They ordered extensively. "Cheers! May The Rose flourish! May our careers thrive!" they toasted. As they celebrated, Elaine's phone buzzed with a Twitter notification. As their manager, she was acutely aware of online trends. "Look! We're trending!" she exclaimed.
The Rose's performance and award were trending, along with videos of their performance. More people were discovering the underground rock band, commenting on each member and requesting official fan accounts. Selina, the lead guitarist, was praised for her skill and stunning looks.
"Haha, we made it! We didn't buy this; it's our first step to fame," Elaine said, gleefully scrolling through Twitter. Her initial skepticism had vanished. "Oh my god! There's another trending topic, even higher – it's about you, Selina!" she continued.
A photo of Trevon pinning a medal on Selina was trending higher still. The chemistry between them was undeniable, leading many to speculate about their relationship. Selina's identity was revealed, but Trevon's remained a mystery.
"Oh my god, this photo is amazing. Selina, do you know him?" Elaine asked casually, as Thomas and Luke looked on curiously.
Selina nodded. "Yes, but I can't reveal his identity."
"Understood. He must be a big shot to be at the festival and provide such prizes," Elaine replied.
"Selina, thanks to you, The Rose's popularity has soared," Elaine said. Selina exchanged a knowing glance with Lydia. Lydia imagined Elaine's reaction upon learning that the man was Trevon Brady, CEO of Insight Group, the youngest billionaire on the Forbes list, and Selina's husband.
After a while, Selina went to the restroom. At the corner, she ran into a group of people…
