Chapter 83
Selina was heading to the underground parking lot when Trevon called. "Leaving early on your first day? Aren't you afraid of getting your pay docked?"
"What? Should Trevor's wife be toiling away at a job? If so, marrying such a rich husband seems like a loss, doesn't it?"
"Honey, you're quite aware of your role as Trevor's wife. With my money, you could spend for generations. Since you're leaving early, come home for dinner. I want to hear about your day at Brilliance."
Selina opened her Lamborghini's door, a look of apology on her face. "Sorry, hubby, I'm having dinner with Malcolm and Lydia tonight. You know how much Malcolm has helped me, and he's leaving for Mumzik in a few days. I should treat him to a meal."
Trevon's reply was subdued, conveying unspoken unhappiness and a need for reassurance. Selina chuckled. Who would have thought the dignified, untouchable Trevon would show such emotion? They were alone; he didn't need to maintain a façade. She soothed him, and he sighed, "Just come back early."
"Okay!"
Having managed the possessive Trevon, Selina rubbed her temples. Do men in love get this jealous? Even a noble one like Trevon isn't immune.
That night, Selina dined with Lydia and Malcolm, eager to show them the jewelry designs she'd created. She'd designed earrings for Lydia, the unrestrained young girl, and a ring for Malcolm, the fiery yet wise lawyer. Both were delighted. "Selina, you're amazing!"
Selina had poured her heart into these designs, gifts for her mentors. For them, the sentiment far outweighed the material value.
With their approval, Selina's heart settled. "The final product won't be a problem. It'll be ready soon. I'll personally assemble and give them to you."
It was funny; when she debuted as Angel, pitching to a major international brand hadn't been nerve-wracking. Presenting to Lydia and Malcolm felt far more daunting.
"Malcolm, we should appreciate Selina's grand gift," Lydia said, raising their glasses to toast Selina.
"And there's one more thing. Lydia, I'm planning an exclusive bracelet for The Rose band members. What do you think of this draft?"
Lydia's eyes sparkled. "This is incredible, Selina! We're totally in sync. I wanted a token for The Rose, but designing isn't my forte. No wonder you're the renowned Angel; your design is…"
Footsteps approached. "Angel?!" An excited voice called.
Selina turned to see Manuel, his joy turning to astonishment. "You?" he asked incredulously.
Manuel had heard the name Angel. Or had he?
Selina laughed coldly. "Why not me? Does Sokovis belong to you?" What rotten luck to run into Manuel now.
"What's up?" Ashley asked. Noticing Selina, she looked surprised. "Selina… you're here for dinner too?"
Ashley glanced at Lydia and Malcolm. She knew Lydia; Malcolm's attire suggested he was someone not to be trifled with. He was even more attractive than Ashley, infuriating her. She now saw him as a potential boyfriend.
Lydia didn't mince words. "Jerks and bitches, spoiling our dinner vibe."
Manuel bristled. "Who are you calling jerks and lowlifes?"
"Please, why do some people take things so personally? I didn't drop names. Can't one even vent a bit? Right, Selina?"
"Some people are just shameless," Selina added, echoing Lydia's sarcasm. Manuel's expression darkened.
"Selina, I'm so sorry. Ashley knows it's her fault. You lashed out at Manuel because of her. If it helps, yell, hit me. I'll take it…" Ashley portrayed innocent suffering, tears welling, but secretly watching Malcolm.
Ashley was undeniably attractive, but she couldn't match Selina's beauty. Yet, her performance was convincing, even fooling Selina.
Fooled by Ashley's act, Manuel turned to Selina. "Selina, if you have a problem, come at me, don't hurt Ashley! She's innocent! How can you be so heartless? Ashley is your sister!"
Lydia rolled her eyes, fanning herself. "Some people's acting is so good, I feel sick from the fake sweetness. Some can't even smell a rat but babble about conscience."
