Chapter 90
“She said she wanted to interact with you all like any other person, so she chose not to reveal that she’s my wife. But after this design review, you should be able to see how talented my wife really is,” Trevon said. Derrick was speechless.
Derrick’s hand trembled as he held the phone. What? he thought. Is this something I’m allowed to know? Maybe it’d be better to wait for Trevon to officially announce it. Then I could be just as surprised as everyone else. Such a big secret, now in his hands. If he accidentally leaked it, would Trevon hunt him down? Countless terrible possibilities raced through his mind.
“Another thing,” Trevon continued, “send me a photo of Selina’s design drafts. I want to appreciate them myself. But don’t tell her I asked for them—I don’t want to make her angry!”
Before Derrick could respond, Trevon hung up, leaving him bewildered.
“Madge, I just remembered something urgent. I need to go now. Oh, and I need to take photos of the drafts for the boss upstairs,” Derrick called out.
“Let’s have lunch together and talk about Selina,” Madge said.
“Next time, Madge. It’s a real emergency. Bye,” Derrick replied, bolting out. He craved a moment alone; he wasn’t in the mood for social lunches.
Trevon soon received the photos. He examined Selina’s design drafts, zooming in and out for ten minutes, a mysterious smile spreading across his face. “Honey, how many more surprises do you have that I don’t know about? Or should I say, are you Angel?” he murmured.
After taking charge of the Insight Group, Trevon quickly leveraged company resources to launch Brilliance, despite opposition from many who felt he had enough on his plate. They saw no need for another jewelry company in such a competitive market. However, Trevon was determined, personally leading the charge, recruiting, and investing heavily. Seeing the results, the board members fell silent.
Nobody knew why Trevon invested so much effort—only he knew. He wanted Angel. Creating Brilliance was a means to secure Angel’s loyalty.
Angel’s designs were legendary, a dream for many jewelry designers. For Trevon, it was a pursuit of his heart and a key piece in his business empire’s puzzle. And within Selina’s designs, he felt Angel’s presence. If the pursuit of his heart had anything to do with the woman he loved…
What could be more interesting in this world? Nothing.
When Andrew entered to report, he found Trevon lounging on a leather sofa, not buried in paperwork. Trevon’s grey trousers hugged his long legs as he reclined comfortably, hands behind his head, exuding an air of noble leisure. Only his deep blue eyes flickered with a knowing gleam, brimming with a zeal known only to him.
Chapter 90 (continued)
Noticing Andrew, Trevon casually asked, “All sorted out?”
“Yes, everything for this afternoon is arranged. Mr. Brady can rest assured about the meeting with Angel,” Andrew replied.
Sensing hesitation, Trevon glanced over. “Is there something else?”
“You seem happier than this morning, Mr. Brady,” Andrew observed.
Andrew didn’t dare ask what had happened. Even as Trevon’s closest aide, there were things he knew better than to question. But ever since Trevon’s contractual marriage to Selina, Andrew had noticed a gradual change in him.
“You understand once you have a wife,” Trevon said.
It was as if lightning struck Andrew. The shock left his mind nearly paralyzed, not only by Trevon’s unexpected demeanor, but by the words themselves. This was unlike the detached and prideful man he knew.
Could one woman truly change a man so profoundly? Andrew wondered.
It was 3 p.m. Selina called Trevon. When he answered, he realized it was an audio call—no video. The caller’s tone was male, fitting Angel’s mysterious profile. “Designer Angel lives up to the rumors of being enigmatic, I see.”
“If you want to work with me, you should know my way of doing business. Don’t worry, it’s not personal; it’s the same for anyone. I don’t show my face.”
At that moment, Selina sat in a sky restaurant, leisurely sipping an Americano.
“I assume you’ve done your research on Brilliance in the past three days. I, Andrew Trevon, can guarantee that as long as Angel is willing to collaborate, any reasonable terms you set will be entertained.”
“Let me think,” Selina replied, pausing deliberately. “There’s a rumor that Mr. Brady is incredibly handsome. I happen to be interested in sex. How about you spend a night with me? I’ll design a new piece for you, free of charge, a guaranteed smash hit.”
An exclusive design from Angel could bring immense benefits to Brilliance. Selina’s mischief was calculated.
Trevon’s expression became profoundly serious. “I must decline. I have a wife and can’t do anything unfair to her.”
Taking a sip of her coffee, Selina quipped, “Oh, that’s unexpected news. But businessmen love to play the field, don’t they? Even if you have a wife, if you don’t tell and I don’t tell, we can all pretend nothing happened, right?”
“Angel, even if it’s you, and if you continue to joke like this, there’s no need to continue our collaboration. I love my wife dearly, and I would not compromise my principles to secure your talents. You underestimate me,” Trevon stated.
“Okay, I’m truly flattered then. The rumors speak of Mr. Brady’s brevity and detachment. To tolerate my unreasonable demand shows you value this partnership. Alright, no more jokes, I agree to collaborate with Brilliance.”
There was a moment of silence.
“The surprise has left you speechless, Mr. Brady?” Angel said. “Was it expected that Angel would decide to work with us, or did something happen to change your view of our company?”
