Chapter 98

Sara's face stiffened. She couldn't comprehend how Selina had insinuated herself into Trevon's favor. Even if Trevon were merely using Selina as a secret lover, there was no reason to formally register their marriage and move her out of the Harvey family. As Quinton suggested, Trevon likely married Selina—an unsophisticated country girl without a middle school education—to quell gossip and rebel against the Brady family. He paraded her as a trophy wife to express his discontent.

Ashley feigned a pitiful expression, her eyes flitting enviously between Charley and Edwin before settling on Trevon's retreating figure. While Charley and Edwin were exceptional, they paled in comparison to Trevon. His charisma was magnetic, drawing gazes like moths to a flame. Yet this captivating man had chosen Selina, a country girl infinitely inferior to Ashley—and married her. This drove Ashley to madness, even knowing Trevon was merely playing with Selina. She knew he would eventually discard her, but Ashley couldn't allow it. Such an exceptional man belonged to her alone.

As Ashley plotted to create a scene, drawing Trevon's attention and reminding him of Selina's presence, Trevon stirred. Ashley instinctively composed herself, but Trevon's gaze didn't linger on her, instead fixing on Selina, who had just entered.

Not only did Trevon look at Selina, but Charley and Edwin followed suit. Selina stood out in a smart, comfortable business suit: a black blazer paired with grey pinstriped trousers and high heels. Her long, dark hair was pulled back in a ponytail, and her unadorned face possessed a regal bearing. Immediately, all eyes were drawn to her, and Ashley was utterly ignored.

Charley whistled his appreciation. "Selina truly possesses the charm to captivate Trevon. She's exceptionally beautiful, delicate as a porcelain doll."

Edwin nodded in pure admiration, recognizing a quality in Selina that other women lacked. Any other intent would provoke Trevon's possessiveness, risking more than their brotherhood.

Hearing Charley's comment, Ashley burned with jealousy but couldn't object. When Selina first joined the Harvey family, Ashley hadn't immediately targeted her. She'd hoped to manipulate Selina, but Selina's beauty set off alarm bells. Even Ashley, the campus belle, was envious. If she didn't eliminate Selina, she might lose the glory and affection she believed were rightfully hers.

Sara observed Selina with complexity, surprised to learn Selina represented Brilliance in the Jewelry Design Contest. She'd initially thought it a mistake. Could Selina possess such talent? Perhaps Trevon had lost his mind.

Selina looked up to the balcony, her gaze meeting Trevon's. Her brow arched subtly, her face radiating confidence under the lights, drawing Trevon's intoxicated gaze. He saw her radiant beauty, wishing more than ever to shield her from the world. His possessive desire was nearly unbearable.

Meanwhile, Selina noticed Sara and Ashley, her lips curling into a cold smile as she took her place.

Ashley seized the opportunity. "Mommy, isn't that Selina? My gosh, when Manuel told me, I was shocked. I didn't expect Selina to actually represent Brilliance in the Jewelry Design Contest." Ashley's gaze returned to Trevon, but he ignored her. Charley, however, murmured to Edwin, "Another doomed woman makes her entry. We can get ready for a showdown, Edwin."

Edwin usually treated such attention as routine; men of their status naturally attracted admirers. They could handle it easily. Trevon, however, would not be so tolerant. Women who irritated him rarely fared well. This woman, however, was special—Selina's sister. What would Trevon do? Edwin watched with curiosity.

"The specifics of this matter, I believe Mr. Brady is most familiar with," Sara stated. She harbored wariness towards Trevon but wasn't afraid. The Harvey Group had deep roots in Sokovis. No matter how powerful the Insight Group, or Trevon, they couldn't escape unscathed if they decided to act against the Harvey family. The Harveys had never been cowards.

"I'm aware, and most likely the two of you are not," Trevon replied, finally turning. His gaze swept over Sara and Ashley with an icy chill. His lips barely parted. "In due course, you will realize what kind of gem the Harvey family has lost." Sara barely contained her laughter. It seemed Mr. Brady was quite fond of his wife.

If a beauty plot could be so effective against Trevon, perhaps the Harvey family didn't need to consider him such a formidable enemy. The idea of Selina merely having the qualifications to compete, without the skill to secure the position, was laughable—a hilarious downfall.

The designers of Brilliance also harbored grievances, and with a little trickery, Clark Jewelry could pry away a significant number of clients, especially with their partnership with Angel. Brilliance would be overtaken, and Trevon would taste bitter defeat. All this was the result of Trevon's arrogance and presumption.

Trevon's look was one of contempt and danger. "Your daughter? Mrs. Harvey, don't forget that my wife has severed ties with the Harvey family. She now has only one identity—my wife."
