"No," Noelle said, her gaze flat. "That's not my job."
"IT handles this," Isaac insisted.
"My job's the firewall," she replied, her tone icy. She wanted to fix it and leave. This was only her second day, and he clearly hadn't met her type before.
"I'll tell Fuentes! You're fired!" he sputtered, livid.
"Try it," Noelle countered, her fingers flying across the keyboard. Code flowed onto the screen.
Isaac stormed out, glaring. "Don't get cocky. Fix the firewall, or you're gone. Let's see what you've got."
"I'm better than you," she retorted, unimpressed.
Xenia arrived, a vision in designer clothes. Seeing Noelle's code, a calculating look crossed her face. Noelle's success meant Frank's favor. She wouldn't allow it. Her eyes flicked to Isaac, an idea forming.
Finally, after a long day, Noelle finished. She stretched, hoping the test would pass so she could escape the Liddell family drama.
As she packed up, Isaac sneered. "IT never leaves on time, newbie! You're paid to contribute!"
Noelle remained calm. "You're great at overtime, but the firewall's still broken. Useless overtime."
"Brat! Who're you calling useless?" he roared.
She slapped him. "You're unskilled and harass women. Look in a mirror! Do you even deserve this job?"
The office fell silent. Isaac, used to bullying others, was stunned. He lunged, but before he could strike, a hand grabbed his arm.
"Who gave you permission to hit her?"
Noelle looked up, surprised to see Lucas. Unlike her past life, he wasn't just watching. Isaac recoiled at the sight of him.
"Mr. Liddell, I… I was teaching her a lesson," Isaac stammered.
"This is a company, not a boxing ring," Lucas said coldly. His tone was even colder knowing Noelle was his sister.
Lucas shoved Isaac aside. "Do you even know who she is?" He couldn't believe someone dared touch the Liddell heiress.
