Noelle shrugged. "We'll talk later."
"Okay."
Walking beside Cedric, a smile touched her lips as she glanced at his shadow. Frank’s irritation simmered. That smile – it used to be for him.
He raised a wine glass towards Cedric. "To your success."
Cedric accepted the glass impassively. "I hope Noelle's venture thrives."
"Indeed," Frank replied smoothly. "Especially with her Liddell Corporation shares. Future dividends await."
Noelle found this ironic. Those shares were earmarked for Xenia in her past life. This life, they were meaningless.
Alfred chimed in, "Cedric’s a high-achiever, successful in many areas. He'll be receiving dividends himself."
Frank abruptly changed the subject. "Mr. Greene, any romantic interests?"
The question hung in the air. Noelle discreetly glanced at Cedric, remembering his previous denial.
Cedric’s grip tightened on his glass. His lips pressed thin.
Alfred blurted, "Oh, he has someone."
Noelle dropped her cutlery, cheeks flushing. Cedric had a girlfriend? What happened while he was away?
Picking up her cutlery, her gaze fixed on him, a bitter taste filled her mouth. Cedric understood her expression.
"It's still early," he admitted slowly, his tone resolute.
A buzzing filled Noelle’s ears. He had someone. Of course, someone like him…
Alfred tried to lighten the mood. "Early stages, it might not last."
Frank smirked. "Mr. Greene, with your accomplishments, any woman would be lucky. It's entirely up to you."
Cedric finished his wine, glancing at Noelle’s bowed head. He knew this was cruel. If she knew the truth, it would be far worse. This was kinder, a cleaner break. He wanted a brighter future for her. He couldn’t give her what she deserved, and he had no right to try.
He offered a casual smile. "It depends on the feeling."
Frank chuckled. "I know several eligible heiresses, Mr. Greene. Fair-skinned, beautiful, long legs…"
Noelle’s eyelashes fluttered. "That’s not necessary!"
