Chapter 64
Frank’s expression turned cold. He said, “As long as none of us say anything, Donovan won’t know.”
Kenia was rattled. She said, “O-Of course.”
Now that Noelle was not living in the Lidell residence, Xenia could no longer play tricks on her.
When Noelle returned to the apartment, Alfred was still voicing his complaints. “Just what kind of people are they? Why are they forcing you to accept their apology so urgently?”
Alfred used to think that Frank was just biased. But now that he had seen it for himself, he saw that it was not merely bias; Frank was completely blind to Noelle’s feelings.
Noelle poured Alfred a glass of water. “There’s no need to be angry, Alfred. I’m not mad at them.”
“Couldn’t you be?”
Noelle remained as expressionless as ever as she spoke. “I’m used to it. I’ve always been…”
Alfred clutched his chest and replied, “I can’t take this anymore. I’m stepping out to the balcony for a smoke to calm down.”
Cedric soon approached them with a fruit platter. He placed it down before Noelle and said, “Eat some fruits. They’re good for your brain.”
Noelle blinked at him and asked, “Why did you scold me?”
“Are you seriously still planning to go back after the exam?”
She finally realized that he had overheard that part of the conversation.
Noelle packed up the fruit platter and replied, “I need to return and pack my stuff, of course.”
Cedric sat on the couch and said, “Just don’t do anything stupid.”
Her gaze met his. “I know. I won’t be forgiving them, and I won’t let them get to me.”
The rest of the exams went smoothly. After finishing the final subject, Noelle felt that a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders. She had endured so much just for this day, and it was now finally over.
Noelle walked out of the classroom in a great mood. She passed by groups of students who were still discussing the exam, with Xenia among the crowd.
Sophia turned to Noelle and asked, “How was it, Noelle? I heard that you had some stationery malfunction during the first exam. It sounds like you had it rough, but as long as your answers are fine, they shouldn’t deduct your marks.”
Xenia feigned concern and said, “It’s fine, Noelle. It will be okay even if the results aren’t that great.”
Noelle raised her eyes and glared at her. “I’ll still score better than you anyway!”
Kenia was shocked. “Don’t be mad, Noelle.”
“I’ll still score better than you even if I’m mad!”
Noelle’s words felt like a punch straight to the chest.
Sophia just stared at Noelle in shock. She had known the latter to be timid to the point of almost being a pushover. Even though Noelle had toughened up over the last few months, Sophia had never seen her speak like this. Noelle seemed to have gotten quite a sharp tongue after the exams.
Noelle slowly turned around and left. Her figure stood out among the crowd for being much more carefree than anyone else’s.
Xenia was so furious that her face turned slightly pale. She wondered if Noelle had gone mad or something. She then put on a pitiful expression and turned to Sophia. “I was just worried…”
Sophia wasn’t buying it at all. “Whether you’re genuinely concerned or were simply trying to make fun of her, only you know the answer.”
A nearby classmate chimed in, “That’s right! Do you honestly think we can’t tell that you’re just putting up an act of being kind and all? Only Noelle would be foolish enough to allow you to bully her for so many years!”
Xenia’s eyes turned red as Sophia led the rest of the class away, leaving her alone. She continued to stand there by herself, her gaze turning resentful. She eventually ran up to chase after the rest of the class, in hopes that Frank would definitely show…
Meanwhile, when Noelle arrived at the school gate, she was met with a row of red-colored sports cars parked together to hold up a giant banner that read, “Noelle, we wish you good luck with a successful exam!” The entire formation was undoubtedly a bit over the top.
