Listen to this chapter:

Grandma Miller called, mentioning her uncle's return and asking if Freya had time to visit for a meal. Treya glanced at Grandma Wilson and said, “I’m with Isabella at the old house.”

From Grandma Wilson's earlier comments, it seemed she wanted… The two grandmothers were good friends, and upon hearing Grandma Miller's request, Grandma Wilson said, “Then take Isabella and go ahead.”

She then turned to Matteo, “Frank, it’s been a long time since you visited Grandma Miller. Since you have some free time, why don’t you accompany Freya and go?”

Matteo, eating breakfast, simply replied, “I have something to do later.” Freya listened, unsurprised. She had already guessed.

Matteo never had time for her matters. But when it came to Raven, he always found time, no matter how busy. This was the difference.

Grandma Wilson's face darkened. “What’s so important that you haven’t gone back with Freya in such a long time?”

Freya interrupted, her expression calm. “It’s fine. Since Matteo has something to do, Isabella and I will go alone.”

“Mag, you—”

Freya said this not because she didn’t want to force him, but because she no longer cared. However, Grandma Wilson misunderstood, thinking Freya was being considerate of Matteo and didn’t want to put him in a difficult position. Seeing Freya's consideration and obedience toward Matteo, Grandma Wilson felt heartbroken and helpless.

The decision was made. After breakfast, Freya chatted with Grandma Wilson, then prepared to leave with Isabella. Grandma Wilson had prepared many gifts for Freya to take to her friends. Freya couldn’t refuse, so she reluctantly accepted them.

Matteo hadn’t left yet, and he, along with Grandma Wilson, saw Freya and Isabella off. Isabella hugged Matteo’s leg. “Daddy, will you come home tonight?”

Matteo rubbed her head. “I will.” There was still no communication between Freya and Matteo. After Isabella got into the car, Freya waved goodbye to Grandma Wilson and drove off. In the rearview mirror, she saw Matteo and Grandma Wilson watching her car drive away.

When they arrived at the Miller family’s house, Freya parked in the small courtyard. Grandma Miller and her aunt, Helen, came out to greet them. When Grandma Miller saw the trunk full of gifts, she frowned. “Why did you bring so many things?”

“Grandma Wilson asked me to bring them for you.”

Since Freya and Matteo’s marriage, the relationship between Grandma Wilson and Grandma Miller had become less close. Upon hearing this, Grandma Miller snorted and said nothing.

Freya noticed the villa across from them was under renovation. Trying to change the subject, she asked, “Is someone moving into that villa?”

“Probably. They started renovations last week. From what the workers are saying, it seems the owner is in a hurry to move in. In just a few days, they’ve nearly finished. It won’t be long before someone moves in.”

This was an old villa area where everyone had lived for over ten years, so everyone was familiar with each other. Now that someone new was moving in across from them, Freya’s aunt, Helen, said while helping with the gifts, “I hope our new neighbors are easy to get along with.” If they were unreasonable, the future days might be difficult.

Once inside, Helen served Freya some bird’s nest soup, saying, “I heard from your mom that you’ve been looking a bit haggard lately. I had someone save me some top-quality bird’s nest. I’ll make sure to send some back for you to eat later.”

Freya took the bowl. “Thank you, Aunt.” Freya’s uncle, Jason, was busy with work and didn’t return for dinner. Thinking about how Johnny had been punished by Matteo for preventing Raven from seeing Cole, which ultimately led to Jason losing a project, Freya felt deeply guilty.

“Uncle, I’m sorry for what happened last time.”

“It’s fine, it’s all in the past,” Jason said casually. “I told you before, even without the Brown family, given the current situation of Miller Corporation, we couldn’t have taken on that project. You don’t need to blame yourself.” This was something Grandma Wilson could never find out. If she knew Matteo had helped Raven bully their family, she would surely be furious.

Seeing Grandma Wilson approach, Jason nudged Freya to stop talking. Freya changed the subject. Next month would be Grandma Miller’s 70th birthday. Freya and Jason were discussing how to celebrate it in a way Grandma Miller would enjoy. Grandma Miller listened but showed no enthusiasm. “Don’t bother with those formalities. It would be good enough if we all just have a meal together.”

Aunt Helen spoke up. “Since it’s her 70th birthday, we should still do something big.” Freya and Jason agreed. Since it was the children’s goodwill, Grandma Miller didn’t refuse any longer.

Tomorrow, Isabella still had school, so after dinner, Freya drove Isabella back home. Once they arrived at the villa, Isabella got out of the car, happily running toward the house. Freya stayed in the car and called out to Isabella, “Take a shower and go to bed early. Mommy has some things to do, so I won’t be coming upstairs right now.”

Isabella’s smile faltered. “Huh?” She turned back, frowning. “Mom, you have things to do again?”

Freya remained calm. “Mm, you focus on your studies. If you need anything, just call me.”

Isabella pouted, looking unhappy, then finally said, “Okay.” When Matteo was busy with work, he often didn’t return home. Now, with Freya also often staying out late, Isabella assumed it was because of work and never suspected anything else.

The butler greeted them upon their return. Isabella asked, “Is Daddy home?” The butler smiled broadly. “Yes, he’s back.” Freya didn’t show any reaction but told Isabella, “I’ll leave now.”
