Chapter 139

She actually liked this change in her mother. But recently, she also noticed that, aside from those things, her mother seemed quieter than before whenever they met. Her mother had become more silent. Isabella was someone Freya had raised with her own hands. Freya knew that she wasn’t a careless person. The fact that Isabella had only now realized her mother was speaking less meant she had simply gotten used to ignoring it.

Freya looked away and said, “Mom’s just tired.”

“Oh…” Isabella replied softly.

Freya noticed that Isabella seemed truly tired, so she didn’t ask any further.

The night wind was particularly sharp and cold. As they walked out of the hotel lobby, the biting cold wind made their faces sting with pain. Isabella clearly felt the cold and didn’t want to walk any further. She grabbed onto Freya’s hand and buried her small face into her stomach. “It’s so cold, Mommy, hold me.”

Isabella was almost six years old, and she had grown rather heavy. Freya felt the strain but still bent down and picked her up. Isabella wrapped her little arms around Freya’s neck and buried her face there to shield herself from the cold. Freya’s clothes were soft and warm. Isabella snuggled up, enjoying the warmth as she rubbed her face against her neck.

Matteo had a strong sense of time. When Freya arrived at the parking lot holding Isabella, Matteo’s car happened to pull in. Seeing them, the car stopped right next to Freya. Upon seeing that Matteo had arrived, Isabella didn’t get out of her mother’s arms but instead lowered the car window. She coquettishly called out to Matteo inside the car, “Daddy, pick me up and take me inside.”

Chapter 19

Matteo didn’t say anything. He got out of the car and came over to pick up Isabella. Isabella happily swung her little legs in Matteo’s arms. As Matteo leaned in, Freya caught a familiar scent—Raven’s perfume. Before, when he had sat next to her, he didn’t have that scent. This meant that he had likely gone to the Green family after leaving here.

Matteo looked at her and said, “It’s cold tonight. Let’s head back.”

Freya stepped back and said, “Got it.”

Isabella happily called out, “Goodbye, Mommy.”

“Mm.” Freya responded.

Matteo, holding Isabella, got into the car. Freya didn’t wait for them to drive off and turned to walk to where her own car was parked. Watching her retreating figure, Matteo paused for a moment before finally looking away. He turned to the driver and said, “Drive.” His car quickly merged into the flow of traffic.

When Freya was about to reach her own parking spot, Harry got out of his car. “Freya.”

Freya didn’t pay attention at first, thinking he was a stranger. When she heard him call her name, she turned around and realized it was Harry. She thought it was a chance encounter. After all, they hadn’t rented out the entire hotel today, so it wasn’t impossible that Harry had come here for some reason. She nodded slightly as a greeting and started unlocking her car, ready to leave. Seeing that she still treated him like a stranger, Harry remained where he was. Freya stepped aside and opened the car door, only then realizing that Harry was still standing there, looking at her. She saw that he seemed like he wanted to say something. Her tone was cold and distant as she asked, “Is there something you need?”

Harry paused for a moment. In the end, he didn’t mention what had happened tonight.

Chapter 139

He said, “Daisy has a gift for you. Can we meet for a meal in a couple of days? Is there a convenient time?” Daisy seemed to have gone through a significant incident, suffering major physical and emotional trauma. Daisy had mentioned before that she was somewhat similar to her mother. But her mother had already passed away. So, Freya understood Daisy’s attachment to her. To be honest, Freya liked Daisy a lot too. If they met in normal circumstances, she would set aside her personal grievances with Harry and spend more time with Daisy. But to meet Daisy alone…

At this moment, Harry suddenly added, “Your uncle has a project that I can help with.”

Freya froze.

Harry didn’t elaborate further. He said, “Think it over. If you’re interested, feel free to call me anytime, and I’ll arrange a time for us to meet.”

Freya didn’t say anything. To be honest, she didn’t trust him. After all, he was very close with Raven and Matteo. Even if Harry was sincere in asking for her help right now, even if his assistance in her uncle’s project worked out, who knew if, in the future, when she had a falling out with Raven, he would do the same as Matteo—using the project to threaten her uncle in order to pressure her?

Perhaps sensing her hesitation, Harry said, “I can assure you that personal matters will never interfere with the professional dealings between me and your uncle.”

Upon hearing this, Freya asked, “Are you sure?”

“Sure,” Harry replied.

Freya knew that her uncle’s company was currently in a difficult situation. She hesitated for a moment and then said, “Alright.”

“When you have some time, you can contact me, and I’ll arrange a meeting,” Harry said.

Chapter 139

Freya responded, “Alright.”

At this point, Harry looked at her, her hair slightly messy from the cold wind, and said, “It’s cold at night, you should go inside.”

Hearing those words, Freya paused. Because those words were exactly the same as what Matteo had just said to her.
