Chapter 143

Johnny only responded with an “oh” and said nothing further. He stepped forward to discuss the content with Freya, pointing at details in his notebook. Freya looked at it for a moment, nodded in acknowledgment, and then turned back to her work.

Seeing this, Raven asked, “Which part of the content has issues? Would you mind sharing with me?”

Johnny coldly replied, “Miss Brown, I’m working right now. It’s not convenient.”

Just as Raven was about to speak, Freya walked over to Johnny and recited some data. At that moment, Raven’s eyes turned cold. Freya didn’t plan to give Raven any attention, but upon seeing Raven glaring at her, after speaking to Johnny, she gave Raven a cold look before continuing to work on the data with Johnny.

Raven had another set of data to process, so she returned to the meeting room. Rex and the others were discussing contract details. Upon seeing her enter, they asked, “Was there some tension earlier?”

Rex and Yves didn’t know exactly what Raven and Johnny had discussed. From their perspective, it seemed like they were having a pleasant conversation. Freya suddenly came over and pulled Johnny away. Before leaving, she shot a hostile glance at Raven. Her expression seemed to imply that she thought Raven was trying to seduce Johnny simply by talking to him.

Raven didn’t take her gaze off the computer and coolly replied, “No. I was just asking Mr. Gray for some professional advice.”

Upon hearing this, Rex and the others remembered that both Johnny and Raven studied the same field. Johnny was a student of Nolan; his abilities were, of course, unquestionable. Raven was diligent and eager to learn, and it made sense that she would seek advice from Johnny on professional issues. But Freya, with her narrow mind, mistook Raven’s initiative for flirting with Johnny. That’s why she hurriedly pulled him away and shot Raven a warning glare.

He asked, “Do you know that woman?”

When Raven heard him mention Freya, her hand on the keyboard tightened slightly. Freya was indeed beautiful. When Rex asked, she instinctively thought that he might be interested in Freya. But remembering what she had overheard at the auction and Rex’s attitude toward her, she quickly realized she was mistaken.

She answered coldly, “Not really, why?”

Rex glanced over at Freya and Johnny and said, “It looks like she and Johnny are talking. She seems capable?”

Raven replied indifferently, “I’m not sure, but I heard she only has a bachelor’s degree.”

“Only a bachelor’s degree?”

“Yeah.”

No wonder. Her education didn’t match Raven’s, and she wasn’t as charismatic either. It’s normal for her to worry about Johnny being taken away.

He could understand her concern about Johnny being taken away, but her hostile attitude toward Raven, constantly assuming that other women were trying to seduce her boyfriend, seemed really petty. Thinking this, Rex went from indifference toward Freya to a subtle dislike.

Johnny, now momentarily free, glanced through the glass window at Rex and Raven. After observing for a while, he leaned over to Freya and muttered, “Does Rex like Raven?”

Freya, focused on a data problem, paused for a second and then realized who Rex was. She responded casually, “I guess so.” She really wasn’t concerned about this matter. After saying that, she turned to Johnny and urged him to continue working, asking him to stop gossiping. After all, the sooner they finished, the sooner they could leave.

Johnny pursed his lips. “What a strange perspective.” After commenting, he didn’t indulge in gossip anymore.

Chapter 143

Rex, seeing Johnny glance their way, assumed that Johnny was looking at Raven. He also assumed that Freya was annoyed because Johnny kept staring at Raven, which is why she quickly pulled him away.

Raven ran into some issues and stopped for a while. She wanted to ask Johnny for help, but when she looked over, she saw that both Johnny and the Wilson tech staff were listening attentively to Freya. From the way they were paying attention, it looked like Freya was really impressive with her expertise. Thinking this, she withdrew her gaze.

Freya and Johnny were busy until around 5 PM, and the work was almost finished. The contract with Wilson Tech was also finalized. Mr. Kim invited Freya, Johnny, and the others into the conference room to relax and have some water. When he saw that Rex and his team were done with their work, he asked, “It’s getting late. How about we grab dinner together?”

Rex felt a stir in his heart and looked at Raven. Raven, seemingly unaware of his gaze, said, “Sorry, Matteo will be picking me up from Wilson Group soon. We have other plans, so I won’t join you. Enjoy your meal.”

Hearing that Raven wasn’t going, Rex instantly felt that the dinner invitation wasn’t worth going to and said, “I have other things to do. Next time.” Raven’s refusal didn’t surprise Rex, but she didn’t show any expression either.

Johnny looked at Rex and felt more and more that Rex was interested in Raven. He also realized that Rex only didn’t want to go because Raven wasn’t attending. Seeing that both Rex and Raven weren’t going, Mr. Kim felt a bit awkward and asked Johnny, “Mr. Gray, what about you?”

Johnny raised his teacup and clinked it with Freya’s, smiling, “We’re free, right, Mag?”

Freya, understanding that he was teasing Rex, nodded, “Mm.”

Raven noticed that Johnny was really good to Freya. She furrowed her brows.
