Chapter 149

Freya touched her nose. “I accidentally glanced at the data they brought over.” Having a good memory had its perks.

Johnny’s mood lightened. “Then let’s go back and replicate it.”

“Sure.” He said, pulling him into the car.

After the test drive, half an hour had passed. Matteo said, “Thanks for your hard work today. Shall we all go eat together later?”

Rex: “Sure.”

Johnny: “……” He pursed his lips and said indifferently, “Sorry, we’re busy. You all go ahead; we have other matters to attend to.”

Matteo, seeing this, said, “In that case, we’ll do it next time.” He then said to the general manager, “Please send Mr. Gray and Miss Miller off.”

The general manager quickly responded, “Yes.”

Miss Miller… Johnny pursed his lips and internally scoffed as he left with Freya ahead of the others.

Yves lowered his voice and said to Rex, “I feel like Johnny really doesn’t like President Wilson and the others.”

Rex had already noticed this during their previous encounter. At first, he thought it was just his imagination, thinking that Johnny’s personality was simply like that. But now, it seemed he wasn’t overthinking.

After leaving Wilson Tech, Johnny was still upset when he got into the car. As if recalling something, he asked Freya, “By the way, who was that girl standing behind Raven, dressed in a business suit? I saw her look at you with a rather unfriendly gaze. Do you know her?”

Freya: “Raven’s cousin.”

Johnny: “……” “Matteo invited Raven to Wilson Tech, and now he’s even bringing Raven’s family into Wilson Tech? At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if Wilson Tech changes its name to Brown soon.”

Freya thought the same. She said, “Mm.”

Given Matteo’s love for Raven, it wouldn’t be surprising if he gave Wilson Tech to her. Having the Green family members work at Wilson Tech? Not a big deal.

Johnny felt he shouldn’t continue the conversation. The more he spoke, the angrier he’d get.

That evening, in order to replicate Matteo’s company’s car engine condition, Freya and Johnny didn’t get home until late. On the way back, it began to snow.

When they got home, Freya was about to head to the bathroom for a shower when her phone rang. It was a call from Matteo. Freya didn’t answer; she grabbed her clothes and went into the bathroom. When she came out and checked her phone, she saw that Matteo had called twice, and seeing that she didn’t answer, he sent a text message informing her that Isabella’s parent–teacher meeting was tomorrow.

Freya saw this and replied with a few words: “I’m not available tomorrow.” Then, she put her phone down and ignored it.

On the other side, Matteo was busy. Isabella was playing with Matteo’s phone when he saw Freya’s reply. He cheerfully said, “Dad, Mom said she’s not available tomorrow. Does that mean I can have Aunt Raven go to the parent–teacher meeting for me?”

Matteo didn’t look up, replying with a casual “Mm.”

“Yay, awesome!” Isabella jumped up from the sofa, happily dancing with his hands flailing about.

Matteo said, “Dad will go tomorrow too.”

Isabella: “I know, if Aunt Raven is going, of course Dad has to go too!”

The next day, Freya was at work at Cole, talking to Simon about work when her phone suddenly buzzed. It was a message from Isabella’s homeroom teacher: “Isabella’s mom, are you coming to the parent–teacher meeting today?”

Freya saw it and replied: “I have other matters, I won’t be going.”

A little while later, the homeroom teacher sent another message: “Today, Isabella’s dad and another woman came to the meeting…” They even sent her a picture. In the photo, Matteo and Raven were sitting together, with Isabella sitting next to Raven, intimately hugging her arm.

Matteo and Raven attending the school’s parent–teacher meeting didn’t surprise Freya. After all, Isabella couldn’t wait for her not to attend, so he had Raven take her place. Since Raven was going to represent her, how could Matteo let her go alone? Worried about her, the homeroom teacher sent a follow-up: “I’m concerned, but don’t worry, Mrs. Wilson. Thank you, Teacher.”

Putting her phone down, Freya continued with her work. Busy times always pass quickly. Before she knew it, it was Friday.

Early in the morning, before Freya had even gotten up, Harry’s phone call came in again, saying that Daisy wanted to go camping.

Freya paused: “Overnight camping?”

“Yeah.” Harry said, “Don’t worry, I’ll have people ensure your safety. I’ll prepare sleeping bags, tents, and heaters. You just need to come over.”

“Okay.”

Saturday afternoon, she went home to eat with her family, checked on the situation with the new project, and felt at ease. Around 2 p.m., she drove out to the campsite. When she arrived, Harry and Daisy were just arriving as well. Harry’s people were setting up tents and the barbecue grill. It had been snowing for the past few days, and the mountain was covered with snow. Daisy wanted to build a snowman with her. She used to build snowmen with Isabella when it snowed heavily.

When she arrived, Daisy came over and pulled her to help build a snowman. Building snowmen wasn’t difficult for Freya. Before long, they had made a small snowman. Daisy even prepared a scarf for the snowman. After finishing, she ran to ask the servants to get a scarf and a carrot for the snowman.

Harry walked over to Freya. When she saw him, she didn’t speak. Harry squatted down beside her and asked, “You started working at Cole?”

Freya, still adjusting the snowman, didn’t look up: “Mm.”

Remembering how indifferent she had been when she met Matteo and Raven last time, he asked, “When did you start?”

Freya: “It’s been a while.”

Harry wanted to ask more, but seeing that Freya didn’t want to discuss it, he stopped himself and said, “Five times in total.”
