Listen to this chapter:

Halfway through the meal, Levi suddenly remembered something and spoke to Raven. “By the way, Cole is expanding its recruitment. Have you considered giving it another try?”

Although Raven had been abroad recently, she was already aware of Cole’s expansion. To be honest, she was quite tempted. After all, Cole’s technology was top-notch. Joining Cole would definitely benefit her growth.

However… She knew she was worried that Freya might block her from entering, and Levi smiled and said, “Yesterday I ran into a friend who told me that, in addition to recruiting technical staff, Johnny’s also trying to connect with people from the management side. Looking at the recruitment situation at Cole, it seems that Johnny hasn’t reserved any management positions for her.”

That “her” naturally referred to Freya. The internal expansion at Cole, along with restructuring, was supposed to be a good opportunity to arrange a position for Freya. But Johnny didn’t leave any management positions for her, which indicated that Johnny was still clear-headed and didn’t let Freya have her way. Or perhaps, their relationship had already hit a rough patch.

In any case, if Freya didn’t secure a position at Cole, her influence there would definitely be greatly reduced. So, if Raven was thinking of joining Cole now, this could be a perfect time.

Raven knew exactly how good Johnny had been to Freya. At the year-end party, Johnny had stood up for Freya when she was being treated coldly, and now it seemed they were on the brink of falling out.

Raven paused for a moment, surprised. But… Thinking it over, it wasn’t that surprising. She had always known that Freya could never keep Johnny under control for long, and this day was bound to come.

She smiled faintly, saying, “I understand. I’ll find some time later to submit my resume and give it a try.”

Levi smiled and teased, glancing at Matteo, who had remained mostly silent. “At Wilson Tech, Matteo set up a special project just for you, and now you’re just up and leaving…”

Matteo, who was picking up food for Isabella, replied, “It’s nothing serious.”

Raven knew he’d say that. Because whatever she decided to do, he always supported her without hesitation and never made things difficult for her. Thinking about this, her heart softened.

Since the eve of the New Year, Harry had been very busy and hadn’t had time to meet with Freya. Hearing Levi and Raven talking, he lowered his head and didn’t join the conversation. Since Freya and Johnny were both students of Nolan, and the recent projects from CUAP and Cole were both led by Freya, her position in Cole was indisputable. No one could shake that. To her, positions didn’t matter.

But since Freya didn’t seem to be aiming for a formal position, it probably meant she had other plans in mind. Since the end of last year, Freya had already planned to devote more time to research. She and Johnny had decided together to hand over the management of Cole to those more suited for it. After the New Year, Johnny had contacted a few people and had almost found the right candidates. However, the expansion was still underway.

As for her latest research, she had sent the finalized content to Nolan three days ago. Now, she was just waiting for his reply. Just as she was thinking about this, Nolan messaged her: [Come over tonight.]

After work, Freya and Johnny arrived at Nolan’s villa, where Nolan was on the phone, frowning as he spoke. Upon seeing them, he hung up, sat down, and said, “I’ve looked over your research. There are a few people who want to meet you. We’ll introduce you when the opportunity arises.”

Freya nodded obediently, “Okay.” Her research had been approved as a national internal project, so Nolan continued discussing the relevant matters with her. Afterward, Freya and Johnny asked him a few more questions, and they left late at night.

The next morning, back at the company, Freya was reviewing resumes that had been filtered by HR for the technical department. After looking at them for a while, she suddenly paused. Johnny, who was nearby, noticed her unusual expression and asked, “What’s wrong?”

“It’s Raven’s resume.”

Johnny raised an eyebrow and smiled, “She actually applied here? She’s really persistent.”

Freya didn’t respond and simply passed over Raven’s resume. Johnny was going on a business trip to another province in the afternoon. He said, “The forum the day after tomorrow, I’ll leave it to you.”

Freya replied, “No problem.” The forum Johnny referred to was a government-business forum organized by the city government. This time, only about thirty companies were invited. Freya, representing Cole, arrived at the venue. As she got out of the car, she ran into a familiar face.

Freya paused briefly, then quickly withdrew her gaze and walked up the stairs into the lobby. Rex, watching her back, was about to walk up the stairs when someone behind him called, “Mr. Hardin.”

Rex turned around and saw who it was. “Mr. Wilson.” Matteo shook hands with someone, “It’s been a while.”

Rex responded, “Indeed.” They chatted as they walked upstairs into the meeting room. Inside the meeting room, each seat had a corresponding company nameplate. By the time they entered, Freya was already seated in front of her nameplate.

When Matteo and Rex entered, both of them noticed her right away. At the same time, Rex paused because he noticed that Matteo’s nameplate was right next to Freya’s.
