Chapter 34

Freya hadn't noticed Levi. After leaving the hotel, she took Jessica home and stayed overnight to care for her. When Jessica woke and saw Freya, she hugged her gratefully. "Thanks for last night; I'll treat you to a meal another day!" Freya, having already prepared breakfast, patted her head. "Go wash up; breakfast is getting cold." Jessica hugged her, burying her face against Freya's waist, reluctant to let go. "Mag, you're so soft and fragrant; it feels so nice to hug you~" Freya, "..."

After washing up, Jessica saw the delicious breakfast Freya had prepared and felt incredibly blessed. She truly believed whoever married Freya would be incredibly lucky. But thinking of Freya's marriage to Matteo, she kept quiet, afraid of hurting Freya's feelings. She sat down and browsed her phone while eating. However, after a moment, her expression changed, and she couldn't help asking, "Matteo is back in the country?" Freya replied, "Yes."

Jessica handed her phone to Freya. Freya glanced at it and saw it was Levi's social media post. He had posted several photos from their gathering the previous night. The caption read: Happy birthday to the beautiful birthday girl~ Though it was wishing Raven a happy birthday, four or five of the nine photos were of Matteo and Raven together. Particularly noticeable was the cake-cutting moment, where Matteo and Raven held the same crystal knife. Isabella, their daughter, wasn't in any of the photos—probably to keep this from the Feng family elders, since Matteo's grandmother was friends with her grandmother. Because of past issues between their mothers, the old lady had never liked Raven. If she found out Matteo was letting Bella get close to Raven, she would likely be furious. Looking at the photos alone, anyone would think Matteo and Raven were a couple.

It was clear this birthday celebration was specially arranged by Matteo for Raven. Remembering the cold treatment she received on her own birthday two weeks ago, Freya looked away. Jessica watched her worriedly. "Mag—"

"It's fine. Whatever they do has nothing to do with me anymore," Freya said, returning the phone. "I asked Matteo for a divorce."

"What?!" Jessica was shocked. "You—you brought up divorce?!"

"Yes."

Actually, Jessica hadn't disliked Matteo before. On the contrary, she used to admire him and even had a crush on him. It wasn't for any particular reason, except that Matteo was simply exceptional. Freya had skipped three grades and graduated from the country's top university before turning eighteen, then quickly established her own tech company and secured several patents—which Jessica thought was already incredible. But Matteo had reportedly graduated from university at thirteen. Shortly after graduation, he went abroad for further studies. It was said that when he returned, he had already established several companies of his own, all of them listed. And at that time, Matteo wasn't even twenty! His companies spanned technology, pharmaceuticals, entertainment, and tourism sectors. In the following years, while continuing to establish his own companies, he also took over the family company, effortlessly taking it to new heights. Who in their circle didn't give Matteo a thumbs-up when mentioning him? Moreover, Matteo was extremely handsome. So, Jessica wasn't surprised that Freya, a genius herself, had fallen for another genius like Matteo. However, Matteo could be utterly ruthless to those he didn't like. Thinking about how he had misunderstood Freya all these years and carelessly trampled on her sincere feelings, she had completely lost her admiration for him. Jessica had always seen how deeply Freya loved Matteo.

Over the years, she had tried several times to convince Freya to get a divorce. But Freya had always silently shaken her head. So she never imagined Freya would actually initiate divorce proceedings. She could barely eat her breakfast now, looking at Freya with concern. "What happened?" She knew something must have occurred to make her, who had always loved Matteo steadfastly, actively seek a divorce.

Freya thought for a moment and said, "It's not really anything major. Maybe I just accumulated enough disappointment and suddenly felt tired. That's when I decided on divorce."

Jessica understood Freya's personality well. She knew that once Freya made a decision, even if she might not be able to completely let go of Matteo yet, she wouldn't easily change her mind. She was serious about this. Jessica went over and hugged her. "It's okay; divorce might be for the best."

Freya: "Mm."

After breakfast, Freya left Jessica's place for work. Before she moved out, even though she and Matteo worked at the same place, they had always left at different times, never going to work together. Plus, he had kept his distance so strictly that sometimes they wouldn't run into each other at the company for a whole month. Now that she had moved out, they had encountered each other two days in a row.
