The group had been seated for a while, enjoying their meal, yet Matteo and Vinny hadn’t exchanged a single word. Upon hearing this, Matteo picked up a napkin and wiped the corner of his lips. He glanced at Vinny and smiled. “I’ve indeed considered it. What do you think, Mr. Gray?” Johnny, naturally, wouldn’t miss a business opportunity. “It’s an honor for us at Cole to have Mr. Wilson’s attention.”
If Matteo and Johnny formed a partnership, Raven would be pleased. After all, if the two men grew closer, her chances of interacting more with Raven would increase, making it easier to win him over. Thinking this, she cast a cold glance at Freya. Freya had mostly been talking with Professor Liam. Though he paid some attention to the others at the table, he didn’t seem concerned.
If Johnny truly wanted to collaborate with Matteo, she had no objections; there was no reason to refuse potential profits. As the meal neared its end, everyone began to rise, as remaining seated after finishing was unnecessary. Those with business intentions gathered by the nearby sofa to discuss.
Matteo had only casually mentioned the possibility of working with Cole during dinner, but Freya wasn’t sure if it would come to fruition. However, Kevin, also dining with them, seemed genuinely interested in collaborating. Sure enough, before the meal ended, Kevin and his management team were already chatting with Johnny. Freya followed them.
When it came to technology, Freya was proficient; negotiations were Johnny’s domain. Freya sat quietly, rarely speaking. But when she noticed Johnny’s cup was empty, she took it and said, “I’ll refill it for you.” Johnny smiled. “Thanks.”
Seeing Freya acting as Johnny’s secretary, Raven and Lauren became more certain that Freya’s role at Cole was likely limited to assisting Johnny.
Freya, holding the cup, turned and took a few steps. As she neared Matteo, someone nearby unintentionally bumped into her. Freya lost her balance and fell forward, landing in Matteo’s arms. Everyone around them froze.
At first glance, it seemed Freya had been knocked over, but who could say for sure if it was truly an accident? After all, what were the odds she would fall straight into Matteo’s arms? Moreover, Freya was extraordinarily beautiful, with a slender figure, soft curves, and skin as fair as milk. Though Raven was also quite beautiful, many men present considered Freya more stunning. To have a woman like her deliberately fall into one’s arms… well, let’s just say it sparked thoughts in many men’s minds.
But Matteo was different. With a cold expression, he gently steadied Freya by her shoulder and immediately pushed her away, showing no sign of being distracted by her beauty. It wasn’t until she was pressed against him and inhaled his familiar scent that Freya realized she had fallen into Matteo’s arms. Once she registered what happened, her expression turned neutral. She stood up straight, mumbled, “I’m sorry,” and walked away.
Raven and Lauren were now convinced Freya had deliberately thrown herself into Matteo’s arms. Lauren scoffed and said to Raven, “I told you she couldn’t just sit still.” “But no matter how hard she tries, it’s useless,” Raven replied, because Matteo wasn’t moved in the least. “True,” Lauren smiled. “Matteo’s reaction really does give you a sense of security.” Raven smiled sweetly and lowered her head.
Logan furrowed his brows. He felt he had misjudged Freya. Who would have thought such a quiet woman could have so many tricks up her sleeve? Noticing the situation, Johnny paused his conversation with Kevin and quickly walked over to Freya. “Are you alright?” Freya shook her head. “Did you sprain your ankle?”
