The core technological content they had discussed and written down could be considered confidential elsewhere, but Nolan immediately dismissed it as worthless. For the next two or three days, Freya and Johnny worked together, revising the "homework" based on Nolan's feedback.
By Monday, Freya's foot had almost fully healed. While she wasn't confident enough to drive yet, she was able to return to the office and resume her regular work. Upon arriving, Johnny informed her, "Matteo probably really intends to collaborate with us." Matteo himself wasn't there, but he had sent someone the previous week to make initial contact. Johnny hadn't told Freya, fearing it would distract her. Someone from Matteo's side would be coming later that day. If the conversation went well, they could finalize the preliminary collaboration plan.
The technical director sent by Matteo was from his personal technology company, not the Wilson Group. This was their first meeting. When the director learned Freya was also involved in technology, he politely greeted her, "Hello, Miss Miller." "Hello," Freya replied.
The afternoon proceeded smoothly, and by lunchtime, Cole invited several people from Matteo's company to dine together. As they were leaving the restaurant, they unexpectedly ran into Matteo and Raven, who were also exiting their car. Seeing them, Freya paused. Johnny rubbed his forehead, surprised by the coincidence. However, Director Quinn's eyes lit up when he saw them, and he called out, "President Wilson!"
Matteo and Raven turned. Upon seeing Freya and Johnny, they seemed slightly surprised. After greeting Freya and Johnny, Director Quinn walked over to Matteo and Raven. Since Matteo had already noticed them, and they still had business to discuss, Freya and Johnny exchanged a glance and followed. Director Quinn also seemed to know Raven, greeting her warmly, "Miss Brown." "Hello," Raven replied, her tone somewhat distant.
Director Quinn didn't mind Raven's reserve; she was now the most important person to Matteo and might soon become his boss. It was normal for Raven to maintain a level of distance from subordinates. Director Quinn then explained to Matteo, "I had a meeting with Cole this morning to discuss a potential partnership. Now it's lunch, so I'm just here with President Gray and the others."
Matteo nodded and shook his hand, saying, "Thank you for your hard work." Director Quinn replied, "It's no trouble at all." Matteo's gaze shifted to Freya and Johnny, and he greeted Johnny, "President Gray." But he said nothing to Freya.
Johnny responded with a nod and suggested, "Since we've run into each other, why don't we have lunch together?" However, Matteo declined, saying, "No, this is a private arrangement, not very convenient. But next time, I'll definitely invite President Gray to dinner."
A private arrangement? Was this a date with Raven? Was he trying to avoid being disturbed? Johnny secretly sneered but smiled and said, "President Wilson is too polite." Raven did want to get to know Johnny better, but compared to him, she was naturally more interested in Matteo. Matteo seemed very protective of their private time, and Raven was pleased with this. She didn't want their personal time interrupted.
After hearing Matteo's refusal, she didn't insist and walked off with him, leaving the others behind. Once they were far enough away, Johnny asked, "Does Director Quinn know Miss Brown as well?" "I've met her a few times," Director Quinn replied. "As you know, President Wilson is very attentive to Miss Brown and has brought her to the company several times."
So that was the case. Although Freya had been married to Matteo for many years and was somewhat aware of the companies he had started, she had never visited any of them. That was because Matteo didn't allow her. Yet, he never imposed such restrictions on Raven.
