Listen to this chapter:

After a while, Harry returned and placed a plate of food in front of Daisy, then handed her a knife and fork. Daisy quietly began to eat in small bites.

Harry asked, “Is it good?”

Daisy nodded.

Harry glanced at Freya, then turned to Daisy, saying, “This auntie is the one who saved you. You should thank her.”

Daisy licked the cake off the fork and looked up at Freya. In a soft voice, she said, “Thank you, Auntie.”

Freya realized Harry had asked the child to thank her. She smiled gently and replied, “You’re welcome.”

Daisy looked back at Harry, who said, “It’s fine, go ahead and eat.” Daisy buried her head back into her food.

Harry, now focusing on his meal, took a bite before turning back to Freya, asking, “Did you come alone?”

Freya replied, “It’s a company team-building event. I came with my colleagues.”

Harry didn’t know Freya had already resigned from Wilson Corporation. So, when he heard this, he assumed Wilson Corporation was also holding their team-building event there. He paused before replying, “I see.”

At that moment, Johnny noticed Freya and waved at her. Since Freya didn’t want much interaction with people around Matteo, and she had nothing more to say to Harry, she saw this as an opportunity to leave. She quickly waved back at Johnny and said to Harry, “Thank you for everything earlier. I’ve got to go now. Enjoy your meal.”

Harry sensed Freya felt uneasy around him, but he didn’t comment on it. He assumed her coolness stemmed from their unpleasant conversation at the racetrack, but didn’t dwell on it. When he saw her preparing to leave, he simply nodded and didn’t try to stop her.

As Freya walked away, Johnny looked at Harry and asked, “Who’s that?”

Hoy Faye’s sederation with him, it seemed they knew each other.

“Harry Karke glad Freye.”

The Amy was surprised. “Aren’t you two not very familiar with each other? How come you’re sitting…”

“He was… so thankful because…she fell into the hot spring and I saw it happen and pulled her out,” Freya explained.

Harry nodded immediately, “I see.” Freya had told them she came with colleagues, so Harry had assumed the person who greeted her earlier was just a colleague. He hadn’t looked back to confirm.

As Freya and Johnny walked a bit further, Harry realized the person with Freya earlier was a tall young man. The two of them seemed close, judging by the distance between them as they walked.

“Uncle…” Daisy’s voice brought Harry back to reality.

“Did you finish eating? If you’re done, we’ll go upstairs,” he asked.

“Finished,” Daisy answered.

Harry, having already eaten, put down his napkin and stood up with Daisy, heading upstairs.

Freya, returning to her room, planned to read on the balcony when her phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Matteo. She wasn’t surprised; he usually only contacted her when something important arose. Freya picked up the phone, her tone cold: “Hello.”

“Grandmother wants you to come home for dinner tomorrow night,” he said.

Freya paused before replying, “Alright, I understand.”

Before she could say more, he had already hung up, not lingering for a second. Freya wasn’t bothered by it. She set the phone aside and continued with her book.

That evening, she slept soundly. The next morning, she woke up early, went to the hotel gym for a quick run, and after a short rest, visited the hot spring again.

At that moment, a woman in her forties or fifties, holding Daisy’s hand, walked over. Freya recognized her from yesterday—she was the nanny hired by the Becker family to look after Daisy.

Yesterday, the nanny had been distracted by an urgent call and hadn’t noticed Daisy disappearing. If Freya hadn’t been there to save her, the situation could have been much worse.
