Chapter 22
Rowan stared at the marriage certificate as though he was dreaming. He had been in misery this entire time because of her resentment toward him. But now… His fingers fondled it slightly as he held the marriage certificate. He turned his head and looked at Stella. She, too, was looking at the marriage certificate, lost in thought.
As the staff members prepared to leave, he handed all three thick envelopes filled with money. "Thank you for your hard work."
The three of them instantly beamed with joy. "There’s no need to thank us. This is our job! Congratulations, Mr. Mansfield and Ms. Fairchild. May you enjoy a wonderful marriage and a lifetime of happiness!" I’d gladly do it every night. After seeing the reward, they wouldn’t mind more jobs like this and would gladly do it every night.
Rowan’s expression softened at their wink. "Thank you." A wonderful marriage and a lifetime of happiness were beautiful blessings.
After sending the staff off, he turned back to find Stella still staring at the marriage certificate in her hand. "What are you looking at?" he walked over and asked with a slightly hoarse voice. He was afraid that when she looked up, there would be traces of regret in her eyes.
But when she did lift her gaze, her eyes were bright and sparkling. She called his name softly, "Rowan."
"Yes?" He paused, completely caught off guard by her gaze. "Twitter?"
Seeing that he was confused, she lifted the marriage certificate and waved it in front of him. "Can we make an official announcement about this?"
The moment he mentioned getting married, Stella had already come up with a solution. If she announced their marriage first, Celina wouldn’t have been able to twist the narrative. Rowan didn’t expect that she was willing to go public.
"Of course," he sat down next to her.
"But I don’t have my phone," she suddenly frowned. Her phone was with Erin, and she didn’t remember her password as it was set by Lain, who managed her account.
"I’ll post it for you," Rowan grinned. He took pictures of their marriage certificate before logging into his account.
Not long after, the late-night gossiping Internet community, which was still awake, suddenly saw a post from Rowan: "The stars could never be plucked from the sky, but I will always look up to them, watching over her. My most beautiful star, eternally radiant." Attached to the statement was a photo of their marriage certificate.
The Internet exploded once again. As everyone was speculating about their relationship, Rowan gave them the most direct answer. They were married. They were now husband and wife.
As Stella stared at the post, her gaze flickered slightly.
He continued, "Your parents don’t know that we’re married yet." His voice was deep and somewhat playful, with an irresistible sensuality that made her heart beat faster. "Should you think of something else?" he asked with a smile, taking out his phone, pleased by her puzzled expression.
Stella blinked. "It’s almost 1:00 am. We should go to sleep."
Rowan’s lips touched the edge of her earlobe. "You should think about whether you want to sleep with me tonight or if I should sleep alone."
