Listen to this chapter:

My birthday arrived quickly. That day, Edmund and I boarded the most luxurious cruise ship in the world. Not only had he booked the grandest suite, but he had also prepared a breathtaking surprise: fireworks and a birthday party just for me. As the dazzling lights burst across the sky, my name lit up the night like a dream come true. I couldn’t hold back the tears. “Thank you, Edmund.”

Ever since my parents passed away, no one had ever given me such a romantic gift. No one had ever made me feel as loved as I did. Amid the endless cascade of fireworks, I kissed him. This time, it was me who took the lead. Some tourists nearby recognized him and started whispering.

“President Dalton is truly extravagant. He even spelled her name out in fireworks!”

“What do you know? President Dalton never married. Looks like spring finally came for him. Lucky woman.”

“All these years, women chasing after him could line up from the South Pole to the North Pole. To be loved by him? That’s a miracle.”

Edmund held me close, the soft curve of his smile making my heart flutter. As the music flowed, we stepped onto the dance floor together. Leaning on his shoulder, I murmured, “Edmund, I-” But just as I was about to say the most important words, he cut in, “You are my wife! Forever!”

My hand was yanked hard, and my body lurched violently. I was pulled straight into Stephen’s arms. His grip clamped tight around my wrist, and I winced in pain.

“Are you insane? What are you doing? We’re already divorced!”

“No! You can only be mine! Don’t even dream of being with this bastard!”

I struggled with all my strength.

“Stephen, the world doesn’t revolve around you!”

Seeing the tears streaking down my face, Edmund shouted, “Let her go! You’re hurting her!” But Stephen, enraged by the sight of me in another man’s arms, only tightened his grip.

“I made one mistake, can’t you give me another chance?!”

“Edmund, help me!”

Edmund rushed forward and landed a punch straight to Stephen’s face. As Stephen staggered in pain, Edmund pulled me tightly into his arms. “It’s okay. I’ve got you.”

From the side, Eleanor stepped out.

“I told you! Now that she’s found someone richer, she doesn’t want you or the family. Stephen, what are you still holding onto? This greedy woman never loved you. She only ever loved your money.”

Stephen wanted to argue. He knew I’d stayed with him when he had nothing. But before he could speak, a series of violent crashes rocked the cruise ship. The deck trembled beneath our feet.

“Something’s wrong! The ship’s capsizing! Run!”

As the rocking worsened and panic spread, people scattered across the vast sea like headless ants.

“What’s happening?!”

Eleanor screamed, and in the chaos, she suddenly shoved me hard to the ground. Stephen rushed toward me.

“Victoria, hurry! I’ll take you to safety!”

But Eleanor wrapped herself around his waist.

“Stephen, don’t you want the baby in my belly? Our child…”

In that single moment of hesitation, more people surged forward. Eleanor clung tightly to him, and he ended up shielding her as they disappeared farther and farther from me. In the end, he still chose her. But this time, I didn’t feel disappointed.

Crushed beneath the chaos, nearly trampled, I thought I might vanish in the crowd until someone broke through and lifted me into his arms. Edmund carried me and dashed toward the lifeboats. The ship had tilted to a 30-degree angle, moments away from capsizing. Our Anniversary. I Gifted Him Divorce Papers 9:15 AM

Others screamed and thrashed as they fell into the sea, desperate to climb aboard. I caught sight of Stephen and Eleanor entering one of the rescue boats. There were two spots left. I shouted, “Stephen, wait for us!” But Eleanor cried out, “Start the engine! Or we’ll all be crushed!” The next second, their boat sped off.

Before the cruise ship fully capsized, Edmund shoved me onto the last open seat of the final lifeboat. “Victoria, I love you. I will always love you!” “No! Edmund, get on! Hurry, come with me!” “Go!”

A massive shadow loomed overhead. Edmund roared at the lifeboat captain in desperation. And then, the boat took off. With tears blurring my vision, I watched as the cruise ship, like a crumbling mountain, sank into the… A thunderous crash and Edmund’s figure was swallowed by the…
