Chapter 319
Naomi was equally annoyed. "Hector, what is wrong with you?"
Seeing Naomi's face made Hector's heart skip a beat. He couldn't help but remember kissing her earlier. The warmth of her lips and her fragrance seemed to linger around his mouth.
Hector's face quickly turned bright red. Naomi seemed to sense something was amiss. She instinctively reached out and placed a hand on his forehead, asking with concern, "Are you sick? Why is your face so red?"
Hector reacted strongly. He quickly stepped back, as if avoiding danger.
His expression was extremely displeased, and his voice icy cold. "Naomi, unless it's important, let's not see each other anymore. Stop bothering me."
Without giving Naomi a chance to respond, he turned and went inside. The glass door slammed shut, and the long curtains completely separated them.
Naomi was stunned. She had no idea what had happened. She only felt that Hector's behavior was bizarre and his attitude infuriating.
Ever since Hector arrived, Naomi had been genuinely open and warm toward him, treating him like her best friend because of their childhood bond.
At first, Hector seemed normal, but lately, he had been acting strangely. Now, he behaved as if he disliked her, which truly infuriated Naomi.
"Humph," she scoffed, waving her hand dismissively as she climbed down from the tree. Once on the ground, she shouted, "Hector, I don't need friends who look down on me. From today on, we're done!"
After saying that, Naomi walked away without looking back. Hector heard her words from his room, feeling as if a heavy stone pressed on his chest, making it hard to breathe.
But ever since he was a child, he thought he understood human nature and believed he was above the ordinary. He hated feeling out of control, and somehow, Naomi made him feel exactly that. He needed to regain control and refocus.
Meanwhile, Cynthia had another sleepless night after returning home, despite being completely exhausted. She watched Jonathan sleeping peacefully beside her.
Cynthia looked at him for a while. She knew Jonathan had been very tired and stressed lately, but he never shared his burdens with her. Just moments before, he had been so gentle in pleasing her.
Looking at Jonathan's face so close, Cynthia felt warmth rising in her heart. She didn't know when it began, but she realized she was falling more and more in love with him.
Cynthia leaned over, gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, then got up and went to the study on the fourth floor.
Sitting at her desk, Cynthia opened a drawer. Inside was an old cell phone that Luke had used to settle accounts. It belonged to Silas.
Keith had repaired it long ago. Coincidentally, Cynthia received it on the same day as Lilian and Filip's wedding. So many things happened at that wedding.
Afterwards, Cynthia practically stayed at the hospital constantly, so she still hadn't turned on the phone.
She knew this phone held secrets regarding Lilian and Silas. Cynthia already knew whether Lilian had killed Silas. Lilian's plans and actions were far more complex than she had imagined.

Should she turn it on and reveal the secret? Cynthia hesitated for a long time, but in the end, she decided not to. Instead, she put the phone in a box and placed it on the top shelf of the bookcase.
Lilian was already gone. The facts didn't matter anymore, and Cynthia didn't want to know.
She thought, Lilian, I don't want to remember those dark and cryptic things. Let everything be buried with your departure. That's what Cynthia thought at the time.
However, at that moment, she didn't know that this phone would act like a landmine at some point. On one calm and breezy night, it would deliver exploding news, turning her world upside down.
After Cynthia put away her phone, she returned to her room. Unable to sleep, she stepped onto the balcony. Jonathan soon woke up.
He took a blanket and draped it over Cynthia's shoulders. "What are you thinking about?"
Cynthia pulled the blanket tighter and said, "I want to visit Lilian's child tomorrow."
Jonathan wrapped his arms around her from behind. "If you can't stop thinking about that child, why not make him our godson?"
Cynthia looked up, curious. "You don't mind?" She was surprised that Jonathan wasn't jealous, since the child was Filip's. She wondered when Jonathan became so open-minded.
In the past, Jonathan definitely would have minded. But Lilian had died protecting Cynthia. Regardless of who Lilian was or past grudges, all of that had faded with her passing.
More importantly, he knew Cynthia would feel guilty about the child and wouldn't let go easily.
Jonathan simply replied, "I don't mind."
Cynthia shook her head. "I'll care for the child, but not as a godmother. I guess I'm more like an aunt to him anyway." Pamela had already named Cynthia the child's goddaughter, making her the child's god-aunt. The title wasn't important. What mattered was making amends to the child. Of course, she also considered Jonathan's feelings.
Jonathan held her even tighter. "Cynthia?"
"Hmm?"
"How about we have a child?"
Cynthia was taken aback; she had never thought about it. Then she suddenly said, "Shiloh once told me that having children could be dangerous for me."
Jonathan paused, then with a serious face said, "Then we won't have any."
Cynthia burst into laughter. "You believe that? I was just joking with you." Shiloh did make such predictions, but Cynthia wasn't superstitious. She didn't know why Jonathan's mention of children brought that to mind, but it just slipped out.
Jonathan still looked serious. "Anyway, we won't."
Cynthia, intrigued, wanted to tease him. She turned with a charming smile. "We can have some children. How do you want to do it?" she said, reaching for Jonathan's robe.
Jonathan quickly ran inside. "No way. Let me go. If you come any closer, I'll call for help!"
Cynthia pinned him to the bed, her hand playfully lifting his chin while displaying a sly yet charming smile. "Go on, shout all you want. See if anyone comes."
