Chapter 99
Celine's words silenced the group. Soon, someone pointed at her and demanded, "Celine, stop the nonsense. Nina grew up under Mr. Bennett's love. For years, he's had no scandals. How could he have a girlfriend?"
"That's right," another chimed in. "You're spreading rumors because Mr. Bennett dislikes you. Be careful not to upset him; you can't bear the consequences."
- "Celine, Mr. Bennett is right here. Let's see if you dare say that to his face," someone added.
Celine smirked inwardly. These people are flattering Nina for Jonathan's sake, but I can't explain that now. After all, I've lived in Roncrity long enough to know Jonathan is with that vixen. Her pictures are on the big screens in the BJ Building every day. Too bad I didn't take a photo or video.
However, as the group questioned Celine, something dramatic happened. They pushed her back, and turning, she saw a familiar, stunning face. For a moment, she thought she was hallucinating from anger.
She rubbed her eyes. It wasn't a hallucination. In the past, I would have slit her face, she thought, but now this is going to be good!
A proud expression filled Celine's face. She smirked and said, "Mr. Bennett's girlfriend is here today." Everyone laughed.
"Celine, are you saying Mr. Bennett's girlfriend is you?" someone scoffed.
Celine snorted, pointing. "She's right there."
Everyone turned and saw a beautiful woman across the artificial lake. The distance was short, but the steam from the waterfall created a sense of distance, enhanced by the woman's captivating beauty.
Her features were flawless, her hair naturally curly. She wore a casual aqua-blue dress with a full coat draped over her shoulders, accentuating her beauty. The evening breeze stirred her hair and skirt as she stood casually, a champagne glass in hand, every strand glowing softly.
Many were stunned. Nina, too, spotted the woman, her expression surprised.
Celine was pleased. That vixen's beauty surpasses all. I'm not the only one suffering!
Just then, Jonathan returned from a phone call, noticing the unusually quiet atmosphere. Celine approached him. "Why did you bring your girlfriend from Roncrity? Aren't you afraid Nina will be sad?"
Jonathan's face darkened. "Celine, what are you saying?"
"Ms. Jones is right there. Last time, you called her your girlfriend in front of Filip and the others. You weren't lying, right?" Celine shouted, thinking, No matter what Jonathan says, someone will be heartbroken.
Jonathan looked towards the artificial lake and saw Cynthia. His gaze fell, the surrounding aura turning cold and intimidating. Those nearby dared not speak.
However, the situation by Cynthia was different.
Chapter 99
Naomi was confused. She knew these young ladies were from prestigious families—a bunch of gossiping, critical, two-faced people, in her opinion.
She'd been uninterested in their gossip until Cynthia was mentioned as Jonathan's girlfriend. How ridiculous! Impossible! she thought.
But looking at Cynthia, Naomi saw something different. Cynthia was unusually calm, holding a wine glass, one arm resting composedly on the railing, smiling. She looked like an otherworldly fairy.
Yet, that smile was unsettling. Naomi knew Cynthia: the more charming her smile, the greater the underlying problem. The slight rise of the mole at the corner of her eye indicated a storm of emotions within. Does Cynthia really have a relationship with Mr. Bennett? Naomi wondered.
Celine, meanwhile, was determined to cause trouble. She called to Cynthia, "Ms. Jones, Jonathan's here. Come over!"
Cynthia smiled and stood, gracefully walking across the bridge towards the group.
Within three minutes, she stood before Celine. At five foot seven in heels, her aura dwarfed Celine's.
"It's only been a few days, but Ms. Sexton's voice is still so piercing. Even the birds were startled and flew away," Cynthia said.
Celine frowned. "It's night. How can there be birds at night?"
The girls giggled. "Celine, she's calling you loud," someone commented.
Celine fumed inwardly. Are you the only one graceful and reserved, Cynthia?
But Cynthia wasn't her main target. Turning to Jonathan, Celine forced a smile. "Jonathan, would you like to introduce Ms. Jones to everyone?"
All eyes fell on Jonathan. Could Celine be telling the truth? Is this beauty Mr. Bennett's Roncrity girlfriend? they wondered. They'd thought Jonathan was abroad, only learning later he'd been in Roncrity for three years.
Cynthia glanced at Jonathan, smiling silently. I'm curious to see how he'll introduce me.
Jonathan looked at Cynthia icily. After a long pause, he replied coldly, "I don't know her well."
Cynthia felt a pang, but her smile widened.
Celine became anxious. "Jonathan, you said she was your girlfriend in front of Filip and others. Now you don't know her? You're lying! Are you afraid Nina will be jealous?"
"Celine!" Jonathan warned, anger in his voice.
