Chapter 240
It was the weekend, and Aubree was at Rithal High School for a self-study session. In the second semester of senior year at Rithal High School, these self-study sessions were offered. A teacher was in the classroom, and attendance was voluntary. Those who were willing to study could ask the teacher for help. Aubree attended the Odionlandian self-study session as it was more efficient, with a teacher available for guidance.
The moment Aubree received Vincentโs message, she immediately packed up her things. As Aubree watched the video, she noticed Arthurโs mother carefully avoided showing her abilomsen. "Youโre so scared?" she scoffed deep down. It looked like they had decided to give up on Andair and were afraid that people would discover she was expecting a second child and criticize.
Aubree pondered for a while, "If I were Ronald, and knowing that the Morgan family had prepared to give up on Arthur, what would I do?"
Suddenly, Aubreeโs expression turned grim. With no time to pack, she haphazardly shoved everything into her backpack and rushed out. "Vincent, keep a close watch on the hospitalโฆ"
โBoss, I was about to call you. Arthurโs been rushed to the ICU,โ Vincent said on the phone.
โDamn it!โ Aubree couldnโt help cursing. She had planned to deal with Carmen first before resolving Playzyโs matters. Once that was settled, she would take advantage of the newly released live streaming regulations to launch features like livestream sales and PR battles.
"Who would have thought Ronald would get so desperate from the pressure I put on him? And so soon he made reckless moves without hesitation!" Aubree thought to herself.
As a discarded pawn, Arthurโs only remaining value was in his death. If he died, public outrage would reach its peak, and Playzy could never wash the blood off its hands, even if matters were resolved later.
All that Aubree could do now was race to the hospital, either to awaken some conscience in the Morgan family, or, if that failed, to expose the ugly truth. Unfortunately, she didnโt have any concrete evidence yet. All that she could do was try to ease the situation as much as possible for now. She didnโt expect Arthurโs parents to be this ruthless. They were every bit as heartless as the Wilson family.
Aubree rushed out of the classroom in a frantic hurry, completely missing Muildaโs hesitant look. She had just rushed outside the school and was about to hail a cab heading to the hospital when she spotted a familiar license plate. "Isnโt it Bowenโs car?" she thought.
The next second, her phone buzzed. โGet in,โ Bowen commanded.
Aubree didnโt dwell on how Bowen always seemed to know everything. She just slid into the car without hesitation.
โTo the City Hospital,โ Aubree said.
โTo the Military Hospital,โ Bowen cut in before Aubree finished speaking.
โArthur has already been transferred to the Military Hospital,โ Bowen explained curtly.
Aubreeโs mind went blank for a moment. โYouโฆโ she stammered. โSince when have you been keeping tabs on this too!โ
โIโve been keeping tabs on everything about you,โ Bowen said. He seemed to have guessed what she was about to say and spoke up a step ahead of her.
Aubree stared at him for a long while. "Come to think about it, whenever Iโm in a tough spot, heโll always show up and help me out in some way," she realized.
โSometimes, public opinion can be turned into a weapon against the outside world.โ The car moved smoothly as Bowen spoke, his voice calm and unhurried. He was guiding her.
โGet those reporters into the hospital. Once the media found out that Arthur was being moved to the ICU and was about to be transferred to the military hospital, the Morgan family had no choice but to agree to the transfer in front of the cameras. Heโll be fine,โ Bowen explained.
After hearing that, Aubree couldnโt help but genuinely admire him. Those reporters were most likely planted by Ronald, ready to pounce for the first interview and put pressure on her if something happened to Arthur.
"Who wouldโve thought that pressure would end up turning back on him?" Aubree thought.
Suddenly, Aubreeโs eyes lit up. โDonโt go to the Military Hospital; head to the City Hospital first. Arthurโs mother must still be there!โ Aubree said.
With Arthur transferred to the Military Hospital and Lynn forced to stay out of sight, his father must have gone with him, Aubree thought. "This is my perfect chance to expose everything."
