Chapter 497

Aubree took her seat with Nina and Vincent. Initially, she was a bit annoyed and disgusted to be seated at the same table as people she loathed. But the moment she saw the three members of the Wilson family across from her, glaring at her, her mood improved dramatically.

She loved seeing people who hated her, people who couldnโ€™t stand her, yet couldnโ€™t do a damn thing to her.

Carmen still wore that strange smile. The other two, though, looked like they were about to explode.

Especially Daxton. He looked like he was barely restraining himself from leaping across the table and tearing her apart, if not for the fact that this was someone elseโ€™s engagement party.

Aubree gave them a sweet little smile and mouthed, โ€œDumbass.โ€

All three of their expressions changed instantly.

With a bang, Daxton stood up. โ€œAubree, what the hell is that supposed to mean?โ€

Aubree looked up innocently. โ€œWhat did I do to you?โ€

To everyone else at the table, all they saw was Aubree politely smiling at the trio, and then Daxton suddenly flipping out. The people around them immediately began whispering.

โ€œThat is Aubree, isnโ€™t it? Iโ€™ve never seen her in person before. She looked familiar, but I didnโ€™t dare assume.โ€

โ€œThe Walton family actually knows her? Thatโ€™s impressive. Sheโ€™s a big deal.โ€

โ€œTalk about bad luck, running into the Wilson family again.โ€

Even if they didnโ€™t know Aubree personally, many had heard about her past entanglements with the Wilson family.

โ€œWhatโ€™s up with Mr. Daxton Wilson? She didnโ€™t even do anything. Whyโ€™s he so angry?โ€

โ€œHeโ€™s known for being temperamental. Who knows?โ€

Daxtonโ€™s face was flushed with rage. He knew heโ€™d lost control, but the surge of anger made it hard to stop himself. He wanted Aubree to pay.

โ€œEnough, Daxton!โ€ Bryan barked. Only then did Daxton sit down again, scowling.

That outburst had exposed Aubreeโ€™s identity. Some at the table didnโ€™t care about the drama, but they cared about Aubree.

The others at the table quickly leaned in to make conversation. A few from other tables even came over, drinks in hand.

โ€œYou must be Ms. Miller, right? Your startup, GrabCheap, really blew us away! I wonder if thereโ€™s a chance to work with you someday?โ€

โ€œMs. Miller, let me introduce myself. Iโ€™m with Longing Investments. Would you be open to having dinner sometime to discuss potential collaboration?โ€

โ€œTo build a billion-dollar company from scratch at such a young age, youโ€™re absolutely extraordinary! If my kids were half as impressive as you, Iโ€™d be smiling in my sleep.โ€

The dishes hadnโ€™t even fully arrived yet, and Aubree already had a thick stack of business cards handed to her. Wanting to keep things cordial, she passed them all to Vincent for safekeeping.

Nina was grinning. โ€œGood thing Mr. Turner isnโ€™t here. Otherwise, seeing this, heโ€™d be drowning in jealousy.โ€

The teasing reminded Aubree of that drunken night, and her cheeks flushed. โ€œThis is all business.โ€

Just as she sat back down, she caught Daxtonโ€™s cold stare. โ€œWhat are you so pleased about?โ€ he asked, his voice icy.

The Wilson family had also started getting approached by others, but most of the attention went to Bryan. Carmen, after being publicly called out by Aubree at the last investment event and having her project exposed and fail to get funding, had lost a lot of her shine.

In the business world, many people were clever and capable. Compared to Aubree, Carmen simply didnโ€™t measure up. And with both Aubree and Bryan sitting right there, very few even acknowledged her.

Carmen was bitter, but hid it well. No matter. Once she was back on top, both Aubree and Bryan would be beneath her feet.
