Chapter 513
The housekeeper dutifully informed Alice that Ronald was waiting for her in the study.
Alice found it strange. After thinking for a moment, she figured it must be about the Timothy incident.
Those two people were already dead and it had made the news. She had assumed that with them dead and the plan failed, Ronald would let it go. She hadnโt expected him to question her now.
Alice sneered and headed to the study.
She pushed the door open and found it completely dark inside. โWhy is the light off?โ
The dim light from the hallway cast faint shadows into the room. She could vaguely make out Ronald sitting on the ground in a disheveled manner. Alice frowned. โHad something happened?โ
A sense of unease crept into her chest.
โClose the door.โ Ronaldโs voice was hoarse and frightening.
Aliceโs heart immediately sank. She shut the door and felt along the wall for the light switch, flicking it on.
The room lit up in an instant.
And when she saw what was on the ground, Aliceโs face turned pale.
Scattered across the wooden floor of the study were photographs and shards of a broken glass cup.
Ronald was slumped on the floor, leaning against the desk.
Aliceโs lips trembled. โHoney, let me explain.โ
Ronald shook his head. Even though he was on the floor looking up at her, it made her feel a chill from the bottom of her heart.
โYouโve been keeping a man outside?โ Ronaldโs voice was cold. โAlice, I built everything from nothing. Whether I once relied on your family or your family relies on me now, Iโve always been loyal to you. Iโve never had mistresses or illegitimate children. And this is how you repay me?โ
His heart was cold. Ronald admitted he might not be a great father, but he had always believed he was a good husband. Even when he found out that Alice had long known Aubree was in the orphanage, he didnโt retaliate.
Aliceโs face went pale, and she couldnโt say a word.
She was afraid that Ronald would find out about her lover, afraid he would divorce her. As the one at fault, sheโd walk away with nothing.
Ronald looked deeply disappointed. โI havenโt decided how to deal with us yet, but for now, I donโt want to see you.โ
Alice understood immediately. โIโll move out.โ
Ronald added, โAnd cut him off. I wonโt be humiliated like this.โ
Alice cried pitifully, but she knew that if she tried to stay now, sheโd only push Ronald over the edge. So she agreed for now.
When she walked out of the study, her steps were unsteady. She reached up and touched her neck. It was drenched in sweat.
โHow did he find out? Who took those photos?โ Her mind was a mess. She didnโt dare stay in the house any longer and risk upsetting Ronald further.
She pulled out a suitcase and hastily packed a few essentials.
As she was leaving, she bumped into the housekeeper.
โMaโam, youโreโฆ?โ
Alice gave a bitter smile. She probably wouldnโt be the lady of the house soon.
Alice said, โIโm going to stay somewhere else for a while.โ
She didnโt explain further and left in her car. She didnโt go to Kylerโs place but instead went to a condo near her company. In fact, even if she had gone to Kylerโs, she would have found it empty. He was already gone.
She dialed a number. โHello? Ernesto? Something happened. Kyler was found out by Ronald. Iโve moved out. He didnโt say what heโll do next.โ
Far away in Sadhichen Strand, Ernesto nearly exploded from anger. Carmenโs BeeShare project wasnโt doing great, and he had been busy trying to keep it alive. Now Alice was making trouble too.
They were going to kill the scheme at this rate.
He said, โIโll talk to Ronald.โ
