Chapter 283 Idiots
It almost felt like the Jensons had been the ones who killed Tildaโs real parents. When Tilda first returned to Jenson Villa, all the sons spoiled Kyla and ignored her completely. But after Tilda cut ties with the Jensons, they suddenly started paying attention to her, even reflecting on their past actions.
Now, watching Russell โ so proud and stubborn โ lower his head for the sake of his kids, Blair felt deeply moved. She thought marrying this man was the happiest, most correct decision she had ever made in her life. But thenโฆ
โRussell, you once promised to find out who leaked to the press the fact that I was the real daughter. Did you ever find them?โ Tildaโs voice was cold, her eyes like ice. No matter what Russell did โ even if he died โ that ice would never melt.
โIโฆโ Russellโs face stiffened. He hadnโt expected her to bring this up now.
โYou didnโt investigate, did you? What are you so afraid of, Russell? Are you scared that the person behind it is the one you least want to suspect? Then whatโs the point of trying to make peace with me? Iโve never mattered to you. Whether I lived or died never had anything to do with your family.โ
Tilda pressed on, her words cutting deeper and deeper. She forced Russell to drag up the suspicion he had buried long ago. The one he suspected most was Kyla, because if she had done it, she stood to gain the most. No one else even had the motive. But Russell didnโt dare think about it too much. He couldnโt bear to accept that possibility. If it was really Kyla, how could he face the daughter he had adored for 18 years? All the sweet memories would shatter in an instant. And how could he face Tilda, the daughter who had been missing for 19 years, only to return and be framed and disowned?
โYouโve got nothing to say, huh? Whatโs wrong with you people? Why do all of you suddenly act like saviors, showing up in front of me like I canโt survive without you? Well, newsflash โ Iโve been living just fine without you. Better than fine. Happier than ever! If youโre blind to that, maybe you should go see an eye doctor.โ
Tilda turned on her heel.
โProfessor Linscott, letโs board. Donโt waste time on these idiots.โ
โUhโฆ okay.โ Simon nearly choked on his own words. She had just called the Jensons idiots, right to their faces. Honestly, in all of Slosa, only Tilda would dare.
โOh, one more thing. Someone here is supposed to be leaving the country today. All the Jensons in Slosa showed up, exceptโฆ no Kyla. Let me guess. Sheโs pretending to have a fever so she canโt get out of bed. She probably said she wanted to come, but you told her to rest, so she had no choice but to stay home. Am I right? Youโre really going to leave someone suspected of betraying the Jensons all alone in your house, Russell? You trust her that much?โ
Tilda tossed those words out and watched Russellโs face darken.
โEnough, Tilda! I came here to reconcile, but that doesnโt mean you can slander Kyla! You have no proof of anything!โ Russell couldnโt bring himself to doubt Kyla, but he also couldnโt stop the storm in his chest from tearing at him. He was too shaken, so he turned his anger on Tilda instead.
โYeah, youโre right. I donโt have proof. Just pretend I was being unreasonable.โ Tilda waved her hand. โIโm leaving. Byeโฆโ
She didnโt want to waste any more words on Russell. In the Jensonsโ eyes, Kyla was pure, kind, and innocent; an angel who could never betray them or do anything cruel. Tilda knew it was pointless to argue. It was Russell who disgusted her first. Otherwise, she wouldnโt have brought it up at all. Either way, she got what she wanted. Tonight, Russell wasn't going to sleep.
Dragging her suitcase, Tilda walked off with Simon. Russell returned to Blair with a stormy face.
โHoney, donโt be angry. Thatโs just how Tilda is. Donโt take her words to heart,โ Blair said softly, trying to calm him. She had heard everything Tilda said. She didnโt believe Kyla could be guilty, not in her heart. But she worried Russell mightโฆ
โForget it. Itโs almost time. Dominic, go board with your mom. Be careful. Call us when the plane lands.โ
โOkay, Dad,โ Dominic nodded. โJustin, Kayden, Howard, Wade โ while Mom and I are gone, Iโm counting on you to watch over the Jensons and Jenson Group.โ
โGot it!โ
Everyone watched Blair and Dominic go through security and disappear into the terminal.
โDad,โ Wade asked, โare you heading straight to Jenson Group now?โ
