Out Of The Shadows: Tildaโs Brilliant Second Life
Chapter 29 Everyone Meets Their Match Eventually
โUgh, just thinking about keeping that jerkโs dirty money makes me sick. Why donโt we donate all of it to Sunshine Elementary School?โ
โBrilliant idea!โ
After Tilda and Una had eaten and finished their wine, they got up and left the restaurant. Not once did they glance in Judeโs direction.
Only after they were completely gone did Jude finally look away.
โWell, sheโs gone now. Can you eat your food already?โ Maurice was already done eating.
Meanwhile, Judeโs plate sat in front of him, barely touched, the steak going cold.
Unbelievable! He hadnโt looked at Maurice once all night. His eyes had been glued to Tildaโs table the whole time!
He really ditched his bros for a girl! The worst part? Tilda hadnโt even glanced in Judeโs direction! From the looks of it, Jude was the one acting like a simp.
Honestly, if anyone had told Maurice before that Judeโthe powerful CEO of DY Group and the youngest Bells heirโwould end up chasing after a girl who clearly didnโt care, he wouldโve called them crazy. But now? He was starting to believe it. Everyone meets their match eventually. The ones you canโt have always stir your heart, and the ones who know theyโve got your heart never hold back.
Maurice really wanted to tease him, but with Jude, pushing too far was basically asking to die. Forced to submit under Judeโs tyrannical pressure, he decided to just imagine poking a mini Jude voodoo doll in his head instead.
At that moment, Alfie strolled over. He was now dressed in casual clothes and had loosened his tie, looking completely relaxed.
โAll done with work,โ he announced as he slid into the seat next to Jude.
Heโd barely sat down when Jude asked coolly, โWhat did you say to Tilda earlier?โ
โPfftโฆโ Alfie almost choked trying not to laugh, but he held it inโbecause like Maurice, he wasnโt dumb enough to laugh in front of Jude when he looked that serious.
He was pretty sure Jude would snap if pushed too far. โJude, when Maurice told me about this yesterday, I didnโt buy it. But now I totally do. This is the first time Iโve seen you care about a girl. Are you actually into her?โ
Maurice immediately chimed in, โHey! What do you mean you didnโt believe me? Iโve never lied to you, have I?โ
โCome on, no one would believe it. Jude likes someone? Thatโs hard to imagine.โ
โAlfie!โ
Alfie was still arguing with Maurice when Jude said his name in a cold, sharp voice that made him sit up straighter.
โLook, I was just doing my job, okay? Donโt get worked up. Iโd never chase a buddyโs girl. Donโt treat me like the enemy.โ He raised both hands like he was surrendering.
If Jude got the wrong idea, even being his best friend wouldnโt save him. โBut the girl you like isnโt just anyone. I checkedโshe used a VIP card to book her table.โ
Mauriceโs eyes lit up. โWait, what? Those cards are almost impossible to get unless youโve got serious connections.โ
โExactly. So sheโs definitely not just some average girl. But letโs be realโanyone youโre interested in probably has something special going on.โ Alfie glanced at Jude, waiting for a reaction.
But Jude just pressed his lips together and said nothing.
Suddenlyโฆ Buzz!
Judeโs phone buzzed. He looked at the screen, and his eyes flickered for a second when he saw the sender, Tilda. He quickly opened the message.
โThanks for tonight.โ
Jude replied, โNo problem.โ After a second, he added a smiling emoji.
Then, he stared at her contact name.
Alfie didnโt see who Jude was texting and urged him, โJude, whatโs so interesting on your screen? Spill it already. Let us check her out for you.โ
Jude locked his phone and said calmly, โShe has the same blood type I doโOmega type.โ
Mauriceโs eyes widened. โWait, for real? Sheโs the one who can save you from insomnia?!โ
โAnd what else?โ Alfie and Maurice leaned in closer, eyes full of curiosity.
Jude ignored their excitement and pushed his plate away. โThis steakโs cold. Bring me another one.โ
โYouโve gotta be kidding,โ Alfie groaned. Is Jude seriously acting all mysterious now?
Since when did he like to keep things to himself? The old Jude was always straightforwardโhe either said everything or nothing at all.
Still, Maurice noticed something weird. Right after Jude checked his phone, his entire mood shiftedโhe looked lighter, almost like he was in a good mood. He mustโve been texting Tilda.
Later that night, Tilda dropped Una off at her house.
โSee you tomorrow, Tilda!โ
โYeah, get some rest.โ After watching her friend head inside, Tilda glanced down at her phone. She saw the messages Jude had sentโnot just one, but twoโand realized heโd even sent her a smiling emoji.
Ahemโฆ Her fingers gently traced the edge of her phone screen.
Should I reply? Maybe not. I still havenโt figured out how to deal with that contract.
But one thing was for sureโher path had crossed with Judeโs again today.
