Chapter 501 Give Them One Week
โWhat about the other two? I donโt remember Mr. Parker talking about them before.โ
While everyone was talking, the door slowly opened.
Dane came in, followed by Tilda and the others, all wearing lab coats.
Manfred was with them, too.
Everyone immediately went quiet and turned to welcome Dane and his team.
"Finished"
Manfred introduced the newcomers one by oneโtheir names, specialties, and what assignment they would do.
Mystro studied chemistry, and Liam chose electronics.
Each of them would use their own skills to work with Dane on building the lithography machine.
Tilda, on the other hand, would become Daneโs personal assistant, working right by his side on the front lines.
After giving out the assignments, Manfred gave a polite nod. โGood luck to all of you.โ
Then he left.
Tilda looked a bit worried and spoke up. โMystro, Liam, even though you studied these majors before, itโs been a long time since you worked in them. Will you be alright?โ
โDonโt underestimate us, Tilda. If Mr. Harvey chose us, there must be a reason, right, Mystro?โ Liam smiled and looked at Mystro.
Mystro said, โTilda, we knew this would be a really hard job from the start. But for our country and for Dane, we still came.
โNow that weโre here, weโre not going to drag anyone down. Weโre going to give it our best.โ
โAlright!โ
After that, everyone got back to work.
Time passed slowly, little by little.
One day, Tilda was busy writing detailed notes while Dane worked nearby.
At that moment, Riley Danton, head of the Chemistry Department, and Aiden Froning, head of the Electrical Engineering Department, who led Mystro and Liam, came to see Dane.
Riley stepped forward, glanced at Tilda, and lowered his voice. โProfessor Kerrigan, may I talk to you in private?โ
Dane took out his notepad and wrote, โNo need. Just say it here. Tilda isnโt an outsider.โ
Riley continued, โAlright then. Professor Kerrigan, itโs about your two juniors. To be honest, they know the basics, but when it comes to something as precise as the lithography machine, they donโt have enough knowledge.
โIf this keeps going, itโs only wasting time. Iโd suggest you think about this.โ
โYeah, Professor Kerrigan. I agree with Professor Danton,โ said Aiden, looking uneasy.
At first, they thought Daneโs juniors must be very talentedโsince Manfred let them join such a secret project.
But in the past few days, all they had done was watch from the side, take notes, and study the hard parts.
They couldnโt actually help with the research.
Dane wrote, โAre they getting in your way?โ
โNo, not exactly โฆ You can see they really want to help and are working hard to learn.
โBut making a 4nm chip lithography machine is extremely detailed and complicated. We are stuck right now. If theyโre only watching and learning here, how much can they really pick up?
โWeโre worried itโs wasting time, and we donโt have time to train them ourselves.โ
Dane wrote, โThatโs enough. Give them one week. Youโll be amazed at what they can do.
โIf the project really falls behind because of this, Iโll take full responsibility.โ
โWhat?! Professor Kerrigan, thatโs not what we meant!โ
Riley and Aiden panicked when they saw Daneโs steady attitude.
They believed in Daneโs intelligence and skills so much it was almost like he was their hero.
Without him, this whole project would never have started.
The only reason they were here was because they trusted him.
They didnโt want to burden Dane with this decision.
Tilda also stepped forward. โProfessor Danton, Professor Froning, I agree with Dane. Please give my two seniors one week.
โIn one week, theyโll show you the results you expect.
โIf they fail, Iโll take the responsibility too, the same as Dane.โ
Her voice was firm and full of confidence.
โMs. Tildaโฆ โ
Since both Dane and Tilda had spoken with such certainty, Riley and Aiden could only give in and leave.
Dane looked at Tilda and wrote, โTildaโฆโ
Tilda remarked, โItโs fine, Dane. I trust you, and I trust Mystro and Liam.
โWe trained together. We know what each of us can and canโt do. Theyโll succeed.โ
Dane wrote, โYes. Letโs just do our part and believe in them.โ
He gave Tilda a gentle pat on the shoulder.
Then they went back to their unfinished research.
The week passed faster than they realized.
That day, Riley and Aiden hurried over with a stack of reports in their hands.
But they were told that Dane and Tilda were in the middle of an important test.
No one could enter or disturb them until they were done and gave the signal.
