Chapter 55 Her Real Face
Tilda walked in front, and Kyla followed behind.
When Kyla wasnโt looking, Tilda quietly pressed a hidden button.
Kyla spoke first, her voice weak and soft: โTildaโโ
โKyla, drop the act already. Donโt you get tired of living every single day with that fake face?โ
Tilda turned, her eyes sharp and cold, stabbing right into Kyla.
โIโve already cut all ties with the Jensons. Isnโt that what you always wanted?โ
โThat trending scandal? That was you. You bribed the editor-in-chief. You handed over those photos. Everythingโyou planned it all just to make the Jensons hate me and kick me out of their lives.
โWell, congrats, you got your wish. Youโre the only heiress now. The Jensons canโt stand me, and Iโll never get a cent of their fortune. So tell meโwhy are you still chasing me down?โ
Kyla panicked, her eyes filling with tears as she shook her head over and over. โTildaโฆ y-youโve got it all wrong. I donโt know what youโre talking about. None of this has anything to do with me.โ
โNothing to do with you? Do you really think Russell canโt find the truth? Heโs the chairman of the Jenson Group. Do you even know how much power he has, how many people he knows?
โHe already suspects something. He knows that the editor was bribed. You really think he didnโt investigate more? Kyla, how long do you think you can actually keep hiding?โ
Kylaโs heart sank, her pulse stuttering.
Tilda had stabbed her right in the weak spotโher biggest fear was Russell finding out.
If only Tilda had been dumb enough to take the blame herself, Kyla wouldโve been safe.
But now that Tilda exposed the lie, Russell knew someone else was pulling strings. If he really chose to dig deeperโฆ
โTilda, thereโs a misunderstanding between us. That thing you said, I swear on my life I didnโt do it!โ
โSave your breath. You think Russell suspects something, but wonโt push further.
โBut we both know why heโs staying quiet. Russell knows thereโs a traitor inside the Jensons.
โAnd who gained the most from kicking me out? He didnโt say it out loudโhe was just giving you a little dignity.โ
Kylaโs face turned pale, her expression twisting uglier with each word.
Every word Tilda said hit a sore spot, and she had nothing left to fight back with.
โTilda, I know youโve got it wrong about me, but one day, youโll see Iโm not a bad person.
โI came today because I want you to go back to the Jensons. Just apologize to Mom and Dad. Deep down, they miss you like crazyโthey just donโt know how to lower their pride.
Ever since you cut ties, the whole familyโs been miserable. A warm home turned cold. Please, Tilda, Iโm begging youโgo back.
โIf you do, Iโll pack up and disappear from their lives forever. Youโll never have to see me again.โ
Kylaโs tone sounded full of sincerity, not a hint of fakeness.
But in reality, this was her plan all along.
It was the perfect step-back-to-move-forward trick.
She was offering a sacrifice so sweet that Tilda would be tempted to take it.
Because the real trap wasnโt Kyla leavingโit was what would happen after.
Once Tilda went back to the Jensons, Kyla stepping aside would turn into the deadliest trap.
She had already noticed Howard and Wade slowly leaning toward Tildaโs side.
If she didnโt strike now, Tilda might rise again.
Seeing Tilda go quiet, like she was really thinking about it, Kyla wiped her tears and said, โTilda, I was the one abandoned at the orphanage. Meeting the Jensons was the biggest blessing of my life. I already had 18 years of love from themโthatโs more than enough. This family was always yours. Iโll give it back now. Please, Iโm begging you, come home.โ
โHmmโฆโ
Tilda dragged the sound out, lips curling into a mocking smile as she stared Kyla down.
โYou really put on a show. Iโll give you that. But my answer is no.โ
โWโwhat?โ
Kyla froze, stunned.
No?
Why would Tilda refuse?
This is the chance she shouldโve been dreaming of!
โFirst off, when I say I cut ties with the Jensons, I mean it. Iโm disgusted to share blood with them.
โSecond, Kyla, your acting may be perfectโyouโve got the Jensons wrapped so tightly that they canโt even see daylight, but with me? Doesnโt work. So donโt waste your effort.โ
And Tilda had to admitโKylaโs acting really was flawless.
The kind of performance that could win her an Oscar on the spot.
Otherwise, how else could she have fooled the whole Jensons into never seeing her real face?
