Out of the Shadows Tildaโs Brilliant Second Life
Chapter 563 Shattered Reflections
โNoโฆ I just feel like I need to find a new direction, a new path. With Comet Squadโs current Level One clearance, we can tap into the countryโs servers and access information we never had before.
โI want to use this chance to broaden my horizons. Besides, I still havenโt received the access key from you yet, Mr. Benedict.โ
Benedict laughed heartily. โSo thatโs what this is about. Fine. Letโs set it for next month. Bring your team to headquarters, Iโll make the introductions, and Iโll personally hand you the access key.โ
โThank you, Mr. Benedict.โ
On the other side of town, Blair and Kyla were undergoing their final checkups.
Blair, nearly back to her usual self, kept reminding everyone about medication schedules and rehab exercises.
Meanwhile, the doctor pulled Dominic aside into his office.
โMr. Dominic, although it will be difficult for Mrs. Jenson to fully return to her condition before the accident, weโll do everything we can to help her stand again and get through this.
โThe rehabilitation process will take a long time. It requires tremendous patience and strong willpower from the patient.
โShe can be discharged today. Once sheโs home in a familiar environment, her spirits will lift. Her immunity and recovery rate are promisingโI have full confidence she can stand again. But itโs crucial that she believes in herself. Thatโs where her family comes in. Sheโll need constant encouragement.โ
โThank you, doctor. During my motherโs stay, youโve done so much, always attentive, always present. Weโll be counting on you again moving forward.โ
After a few more polite words, Dominic left the office with an easy smile.
Behind him, Darell pushed Blairโs wheelchair down the hall.
The others, having heard she was being discharged, had already gone home ahead of time to prepare the house.
The doctor gave Blair a few more final reminders before excusing himself.
Chapter 563 Shattered Reflections
Dominic crouched in front of the wheelchair, his voice gentle. โMom, are you tired? Do you want to rest a little first?โ
โIโve been lying down so long Iโm about to rot. How could I possibly be tired?
โDominic, Iโm a little worried about Kyla. Wheel me over to check on her.โ
โโฆ Alright.โ
Originally, Russell should have been here in person to pick her up.
But Blair had given a firm order. Russell was to accompany Kyla for her examination.
No matter how unwilling he felt, when it came to his wifeโs word, he had no choice but to obey.
His only option was to be by Kylaโs side.
The last time Justin went in her place, Blairโs suspicions had already been aroused.
Even though the blame had been shifted onto Tilda, her doubts hadnโt fully faded.
In Kylaโs hospital ward, tension hung heavy.
Her heart pounded as she watched the doctor carefully begin removing her bandages.
In just one week, she had already undergone three rounds of reconstructive surgery.
The Jenson family had spared no expense, bringing in the countryโs top three plastic surgeons to work together on her case.
According to them, her appearance could be restored by at least 70 percent.
But the moment her eyes caught her reflection in the mirror, Kyla felt as if her heart were being torn apart.
True, it was far better than the ruined, postโsurgery face sheโd first seenโso much better.
But to Kyla, the face staring back from the mirror was a strangerโs. Compared to the ethereal beauty she once had, this was only a pale imitationโordinary, and certainly unworthy of being called beautiful.
It was better than the grotesque ruin she had seen right after the accident, but that was all.
The more she examined herself, the worse it becameโher mouth, her nose, her eyes, her browsโevery feature had been cut into, stitched, altered. The scars were still there, faint but undeniable.
Chapter 563 Shattered Reflections
She couldnโt even begin to imagine how many layers of makeup it would take to cover them all.
And then her mind betrayed her, conjuring up Tildaโs pure, radiant faceโso flawless, so breathtaking.
The gap between them was only growing wider.
It infuriated her. Once, Tilda had been nothing more than someone she toyed with, crushed under her heel. Nowโฆ
Kyla tore her gaze from the mirror, her voice unsteady. โDoctor, if I keep cooperating with treatment, how much of my face can actually recover?โ
The doctor hesitated before answering. โThese three surgeries have already done most of the reconstruction. With continued procedures and proper care, you might regain another 10 percent.
โBut the time, money, and energy it will take โฆ Ms. Kyla, Iโm sorry. Weโve already done everything possible.โ
โฆ I understand.โ
Kyla lowered her head, hiding the storm of thoughts raging inside her.
Watching from the side, Russell felt it was already more than enough.
He remembered the photos of her right after the disfigurementโimages that had nearly given him nightmares.
To have come this far was nothing short of a miracle.
He turned to the doctors with genuine gratitude. โYouโve worked hard. Truly. This is nothing less than a masterโs touch.โ
The doctor shifted uncomfortably before speaking again. โTo be frank, given Ms. Kylaโs current condition, we donโt recommend discharging her yet. With facial surgery, thereโs always the risk of rejection. Weโd prefer to keep her under observation a while longer.โ
