Chapter 669 The Bait

โ€œNo problem. Just wait for our updates.โ€

After hanging up the phone, Tilda casually tossed her phone onto the table. She rested a finger on her chin, a sly smile tugging at her lips.

Kyla probably wouldโ€™ve never guessedโ€ฆ

The caller was actually Tilda Jenson herself! Tilda had used her voice modulation skills, so Kyla would never realize it was her. Or maybe Kyla was just too furious, completely consumed with taking out James and the others, to pay attention to anything else. She certainly wouldnโ€™t suspect that the founder of the R Organization, the third-ranked assassin group on the dark web, was Tildaโ€™s younger brother, Rain!

โ€œKyla, itโ€™s all going to happen exactly how you wantโ€”and exactly how I want.โ€

Tilda sent the update to Rain through a message. โ€œRain, she took the bait. Everything will proceed according to our plan.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Tilda, Iโ€™ve got it covered.โ€

Just as she finished sending the message, Liam called.

โ€œSorry, Tilda, Iโ€™ve been so busy lately that I havenโ€™t had time to return your calls. Did you need something from me?โ€

โ€œUmโ€ฆ Liam, how is Dane doing?โ€

โ€œDaneโ€™s improving every day. Didnโ€™t we chat about this already? His vocal cords are almost back to normal. Itโ€™s just that heโ€™s been slammed with so many projects lately, and Iโ€™ve had to keep up with him non-stop. Honestly, Daneโ€™s wiped out, but only he can pull all this off. I really respect him.โ€

Liam spoke sincerely. Dane was just in a league of his own. He could do things no one else even dreamed of. With his skill and brains, he was basically holding the future of Cetherland on his shoulders. Even Liam, known as the Mad Doctor, felt inferior when witnessing Daneโ€™s numerous achievements and astonishing ideas!

โ€œYeah, Daneโ€™s incredible. But youโ€™re incredible too, Liam. You cured Daneโ€™s disease that no one else could. Everyone has their own kind of greatness. To me, youโ€™re both legends.โ€

โ€œOkay, Tilda, I get itโ€”youโ€™re trying to lift my spirits. I appreciate it. I chose this path, so no regrets. And it doesnโ€™t change how much I admire Dane โ€“ heโ€™s really remarkable. So, besides Dane, you wanted me to help with something else, right?โ€

Liam hit the nail on the head. Tilda paused for a moment and then laughed. โ€œI canโ€™t hide anything from you.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re my girl, Tilda. We havenโ€™t known each other that long, but growing up under Mr. Harveyโ€™s guidance, thereโ€™s this instant connection between usโ€”we just click.โ€

โ€œTilda, you donโ€™t have to pretend with me. If you need anything, just ask. If itโ€™s in my power, Iโ€™ll make it happen. Thatโ€™s what we work so hard for โ€“ to help the people who actually matter to us.โ€

Hearing Liamโ€™s sincere, heartfelt words, Tilda let out a deep breath. Tears filled her eyes. She felt touched, overjoyed, and full of excitement. The regret, the pain, the torment โ€“ none of that weighed her down anymore. At last, Tilda had finally found her own spark of hope. She fought to steady her voice so Liam wouldnโ€™t catch the sound of her tears. โ€œWhen youโ€™re done treating Dane, Iโ€™d like you to come to Slosa and take a look at someone for me.โ€

โ€œNo problem. Iโ€™ll be there.โ€

โ€œPerfect! Iโ€™ll be waiting, Liam!โ€

As night fell, at the Jenson Villa, during dinner, Blair noticed Kyla was distracted and asked with concern, โ€œKyla, whatโ€™s wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Or is the food not to your liking?โ€

Kyla quickly put on a smile. โ€œOhโ€ฆ itโ€™s nothing, Mom. Iโ€™m just a bit short on appetite. I think Iโ€™ll go rest for a bit.โ€

โ€œAlright, Iโ€™ll have the kitchen make you a little something later. I donโ€™t want you going to bed on an empty stomach. How about some chicken soup?โ€

โ€œThanks, Mom.โ€

Once Kyla went upstairs, Russell finally felt that the depressing mood had eased a lot. โ€œJustin, howโ€™ve you been feeling lately?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m fineโ€ฆ Dad, Iโ€™m doing a lot better now, butโ€ฆ Iโ€™m a bit worried about Darell. I havenโ€™t been able to get through to him lately.โ€

Out of nowhere, Kayden spoke up. โ€œI think Darell went to Yvoria to track down someone really important.โ€

Everyone turned to him, surprised. โ€œKayden, did Darell actually reach out to you?โ€

โ€œUmโ€ฆ maybe the signal is just lousy out there. After all, some places in Yvoria are so run-down they donโ€™t even have cell towers. The text was sent three hours ago, but it only just showed up on my phone.โ€
