Chapter 697 Would You Say Yes?
From Darellโs dream and the way Tilda had finished off Kyla, they finally understood the truth sheโd spoken all along.
This was their last time ever returning to Slosa. They knew they would never come back again. They didnโt even deserve to watch Tilda from afar. The Jensons owed Tilda far too much. They felt their sins were so heavy that not even hell could wash them clean. They knew they werenโt worthy to face Tilda, let alone beg for forgivenessโฆ The best thing they could do was walk away for good.
Blair, sitting in her wheelchair, suddenly started trembling all over. She pitched forward and collapsed on the ground.
โMom!โ
Dominic and the others rushed to help, but before they could, Blair got onto all fours, tears streaming down her face.
โTilda, Iโm so sorry. I really amโฆ You were right. I never should have brought you into the Jensons. If you werenโt my child, you never wouldโve suffered so much and gone through so much painโฆ Iโm sorry, Iโm so sorryโฆโ
All that regret spilled out as Blair cried, her voice hoarse and raw. She could only hate her old selfโthe self whoโd blindly trusted Kyla and whoโd been so quick to cast out her own daughter, Tilda.
โMomโฆโ
Blairโs grief cut straight to the bone and reached all the way to her soul, and it spread to each of her seven sons. They wept, watching Tilda walk away, and gave her a deep bow.
โIโm sorryโฆ Tildaโฆ Iโm so, so sorryโฆ My dear sister, Tildaโฆ I really am sorryโฆ We donโt deserve your forgivenessโฆ Weโre not fit to be your brothers! Forget about us. Forget about the Jensons. Go find the family and happiness you really deserve! Even though weโre no longer worthy, weโll still pray for you, no matter how far apart we are! Weโll keep praying for you to find your own happiness!โ
Tilda kept walking until she spotted a figure in the distance. Her eyes, which had been so cold and unreadable, suddenly brightened and glowed. She waved and jogged over.
โJude, sorry to keep you waiting!โ
Jude swept Tilda into his arms, nuzzling her head and speaking softly. โI didnโt wait long.โ
โItโs rare enough that the famous Mr. Bell would take a whole day off just to go out with me. I wouldnโt dare waste a minute! Come on, Jude, letโs have as much fun as we can today!โ
Tilda winked at him.
โAnything you want, Tilda.โ Judeโs eyes softened. He had just seen Tilda with Darell, but since she didnโt mention it, he said nothing. That was their special understanding. If something mattered, theyโd talk about it; if not, it wasnโt worth worrying about. As long as they trusted each other, and they were heading into a better future together, that was enough.
Hand in hand, weโll walk through life together, until weโre old and gray. They would never let go of each other again.
They spent the whole day together at an amusement park. As night fell, it was already 10 p.m. Holding each otherโs hands tightly, they walked side by side down the street. Their intertwined fingers felt so warm, and so did their hearts. Their hearts seemed to beat in sync, quietly pulling them closer together.
โTilda, if I proposed to you right now, would you say yes?โ
Judeโs words caught her off guard.
Tilda thought for a moment. โA proposalโs fine, but as for getting marriedโฆ Iโd rather wait. Thereโs still so much I want to do.โ She wanted to find Harvey, so Harvey could witness her wedding. She wanted to wait until Dane was fully recovered, so Liam could help heal Jude. That way, Jude and Devin could have a heart-to-heart talk and reunite as father and son. She wanted to start a game design company with Una and build an esports team. She wanted to keep leading Comet Squad to explore the world and to keep Cetherland safe.
Oh my God! Thereโs so much to do. I get dizzy just thinking about it!
Tildaโs face scrunched up with worry. With so many things left to do, she realized her wedding with Jude might be a long way off. Maybe she should pick a date and get it done, once and for allโฆ
Just then, Jude squeezed her hand. Then, he dropped to one knee and took out a diamond ring.
โJude?โ
Tilda was genuinely startled by the gesture. In the moonlight, she saw that the ring was plain and unadorned. In fact, it looked a little worn with age. It didnโt seem like something Jude would have picked.
โThis was my fatherโsโฆ Itโs the only thing my mom left behind. My dad used this ring to propose to my mom. They designed it together. This ring was designed just for her. It was a ring for one woman only, meant to last for a lifetime.โ
Tilda felt her heart stir. โJude, are youโฆโ
